My son's Christmas concert is today at school and I forgot to charge the camcorder last night. If the school will allow me to, can I actually use the camcorder while the charger is on and plugged into the wall in the auditorium, and not have the battery die on me?

I have to leave the house in an hour.

His part in the program is only for about ten minutes or less..

I agree with most of your statement, but the charger statement isn't always true. I used a watt meter to see how much energy my various electronics were using and neither of our cell phone charges used an energy when the cell phone was taken off. Standby energy can be 10-15% of the average home electricity bill. Many chargers use energy even when nothing is on them. The way to tell the difference seems to be if it has a heavy plug or box on the cord. Ipod docking stations were surprising to me, they use the same amount of energy when the ipod is removed as they do to play music. I use power strips to shut off all the stand by energy of my tv and accessories as well as my computer and accessories. I saved about $25 a month. As far as recycling, we have been told for over 30 years to recycle, and we still are only recovering a small percentage of most recyclable materials. I prefer to focus on reduce. Over the last 50 years we have been programmed by the media and big corporations to replace almost everything with a disposable item. I don't recycle much, but I also don't produce much garbage either, about 2 kitchen garbage bags a week for a family of 3 with 2 dogs.

Sometimes you can. But, I not make a promise. Like my cell phone will die on the wall charger, I have tried talking and charging. But, on a car charger it do both, talk and charge. The Cam may work and may not. What I would do is use every oppourtunity to plug it in. Then if they let you, record plugged in. Maybe you have enough time and even if it not work well it may keep you going long enough for 10 minutes at least.
