In Old Testament times, entire nations either believed and followed God or they didn't. Thus, the verse. Actually, scripture pertains to individuals. All Christians, regardless of what country they live in, make up the new nation of Israel...kingdom of God...church of Christ. Everyone else, in a sense, make up the nation this verse refers to.

Yes. It meant exactly that. So many people want to interpret every scripture but God "said what he meant and meant what he said." The Holy Bible clearly states that we are not interpret the Holy Bible(private interpretation) but to Pray that the Holy Ghost will reveal the Truth of scripture to us. They are written on about the 6 grade level so that all can understand without a doctorate in theology and a bunch of letters after your name. That is why that the Vail of the temple was rent from the top to the bottom when Jesus was crucified, That we as individuals could Pray and have direct access to God without having to go to a man(priest) to Pray for us and pay him for the services.
2 Peter 1:19-21 (King James Version)
19We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Romans 1:20 says:
20For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
This pertains to ALL.
Anyone who rejects Christ, is wicked- because we are all born into sin, we are all born wicked, and we all need forgiveness through Christ. One may debate this, saying they are not wicked, that they are "good" people but according to GOD'S standards, we are all born sinful-- our hearts need to be cleansed, born again, and that is only through Jesus Christ.
Romans 3:10 says that NO one is good, not one, and no one seeks after God.
It is only through Jesus Christ that we become righteous-- it is only through Him we pass from judgment to life. And the day we stand before God, nobody will have an excuse for rejecting Him, for ignoring His word-- He has established His existence in creation, it is VISIBLE He exists! Look around!
God is pretty awesome~

It pertains to the whole world! Every soul on earth! How could you think that the US thought themselves exempt? We have freedom of religion!!! We choose what religion we want to practice and the majority does practice a religion! I do understand the thought with all the atheists on Y/A from the US! They are a minority, the Christians out number them greatly!!! We are a god fearing, God loving country!

Very possibly. If we turn our back on Israel yes. The United States has helped Israel from time to time but recently we attempted to try and divide Israel for peace with the Palestineans. That land is the apple of Gods eye. Those who bless Israel will be blessed and those who curse Israel will be cursed is what the Bible tells. Who do we or anyone else think we are trying to divide Gods real estate. We will be cursed for not doing the right thing and obeying God.

No. The United States wasn't even around then.
It pertained to just the local communities where the authors lived. It also borrowed a lot from other myths and legends of the time.
And all of it is just superstition. God does not really exist. There is no Heaven or Hell.
Live your life well, because it is the only one you get.
