ok my bf has a 49 inch flat screen t.v....hes had it for 2 years. Now he wants to but either a 50 inch flat screen t.v. for 800 quid or a 60 inch flat sreen for 1300. tbh i dont see why he needs a new tv at all but if hes going to buy one surly it makes more sense to spend abit more and get the 60 inch rather then waste 800 quid on a tv thats a mere 1 inch bigger then then one he has now. what do you think? i know its his money and he can do what he likes with it but he did ask for my opinion!

Thank God for a boyfriend that want's your opinion. My husband put a whole new set of furniture in the livingroom without asking.

If the cost of the new tv isn't going to break him or make it difficult to pay bills, let him have it. I'm a woman and I love the new tvs so it's easy for me to understand his desire. Though, I do agree, if he has a 2-year old tv, he really doesn't need a new one.

The problem is, the more you try to tell him what to do, the more he'll probably want to do what he wants to do. Tell him that he should do what he wants to do and then, let him. Try not to make comments about what you think he should have done. It won't really help.

I know, I know. I fight all those same issues. You have an opinion and it's hard to hold it back. But, he should feel like he has a choice and he should have a choice.

Good luck....

my opinion: I don't think A TV that large should be considered a good investment unless he spends all day watching TV and if he does then he needs to go out and stay fit, work out, see the world, those other things last forever, can't be broken and will never be forgotten or replaced. Televisions on the other hand have a certain life span and really I enjoy people noticing that I'm fit and enjoy people asking me for help when they need to move large objects (such as televisions) because they are out of shape and the only work out they get is wrestling around with a bag of Cheetos and trying to open a can of beer with their pinky.

There may be more to the 50" TV than you're aware of. For instance, more pixels per inch means a sharper picture; there's LCD vs plasma, etc. There are so many variables that I can't even go into to them for fear of putting myself to sleep. The devil is in the details, kid. You're right, it's a 'guy' thing, and you probably will never understand.

Goodness, but you're beautiful...anyway, size matters in TV's. Tell him to get the bigger one; he'll love you for it. Just tell him you get to pick the movie every now and then.

Merry Xmas!
