Use archival quality negative sleeves. Available at any real camera store or on-line.

Handle them by the edges only and if you really want to exercise care wear white photographers' gloves - also available at a real camera store or on-line.

I used to store them in "glassine" envelopes, especially made for this purpose, until I learned that this material contributed to the long term deterioration of negs. I went out and bought sheets of acid free paper and made a BUNCH of envelopes to store all my old negs. I haven't shot any film since then, so I couldn't tell you what pros use, currently.

Edwin is right... you could also use a 'fire safe'.

Above all keep the temperature and humidity of the environment they are in under some control and don't let them suffer extremes or too much fluctuation in their environment.
