....the danger of the job and the temptation that girls offer when they go out as a group of lads?

Wow he left to be with you? That is lovely. This guy in question's father was in the Marines and he left to be with his mother. It's adorable. But i'd be willing to take the risk if he proved he was worth it.

Err, the only bootnecks I've ever met couldn't keep it in their underpants for more than fifteen minutes if they were drunk and someone was available.

However... this is not to say all are the same. Matelots don't have a great reputation either, but then I never once cheated on my ex. She's ex because she couldn't keep it in HER underwear.
Just be aware that bootnecks tend to have great bodies because they work out a hell of a lot, and lots of women find that practically irresistable coupled with that uniform.

Edit - go on, enlighten me. What's the thumbs down for? Telling the truth?

Prior experience shows that long distance can dull a relationship, however there are a few cases when it turns out ok but these would be few and far between.

don't you think that at 16 you were way to young, and immature to be married?
I have friends in Germany, many of who met at high school got married young to each other and are now divorced.

Talking with most of them, they said that they are still friends but by getting involved so young after a few years the romance faded.

I myself left getting married till I was 45, at this age I don't think I have any inclination to wander from wife who is a beautiful and loving woman, and she was also married at at a very young age to a guy from her home town who grew up together, they divorced after 14 years.

I was married to a solider he was 29 i was 16 when we married.. we lasted 5yrs and i can say i have never seen so many ppl cheating on there partners it was everywhere!! because thay away so much thy take it lightly like eating dinner.. However a small number of ppl were faithful so hopefully yl be lucky. I have 2children with this man and i hate him lol. But as the other lady said if you love each other itl be fine not all men are the same. My current partner left the army to be with me as he adored me so much. So depends on the man i guess... Good luck :-)

Im with a guy in the army, been together 2 years and now pregnant with our first child, hes been on 2 6 months tours since weve been together... we're stronger than ever. The time apart makes our time together all the better.

Its very hard hes away at the minute and im pregnant..away for xmas and new year and home just in time for the birth, but if your meant to be it'll work.

I wont lie its very hard to cope with, lots of worry and very lonely at times

on my unit and when I've been on det it was the husbands who were more worried about their wives and girlfriends cheating, and speaking from experience they were justified and too be fair. When your away it's at least 10 men to 1 woman and in some cases 100 to 1. So it's not really going to fall on his lap. When the unit is away it's really easy to tell, all wives are down the naffi in the 4 years i've been at my unit plenty of marriages have broke up. I can't think of any marriage that have broken up because of the man cheating.

My husband is not a marine but RAF, we met before he joined so slightly different..
It is very hard being apart, and unfortunatley girls are more interested because they are military - doesnt mean they will do anything though!
If you are already feeling doubt already, its not really a good start. You do have to have a lot a trust in the relationship to make it work.

he wasnt in the marines but my husband used to work on a cruise ship when we met, you can imagine on a ship in summer with sexy girls in bikini's but in his spare time he used to message me, phone me, we would go on chat. its really hard but if you love each other you get through it.
