What differences, if any, do you find in the following scenerio...A candidate is elected by his contituents to represent them in the government. If the people of Honeywell country have a vested interest in beekeeping, is there some thing wrong with them electing a candidate who keeps bees? He understands their concerns and can accurately and empathetically represent their concerns to congress. There is nothing wrong with that, in my opinion. If you agree, then for these purposes, what is the difference between beekeeping and religion?

You are right on the money!!!....every group and people have the right of representation....EXCEPT CHRISTIANS!!....most people think the phrase "separation of church and state" are actually in the Constitution...BUT ITS NOT!!!.....the lie has been repeated over and over and now its perceived truth....but in reality, its still just a lie.

No it doesn't The tax exempt status is a Government waiver which has to be petitioned Meaning that every organization is in principle taxable, which doesn't deny the existence or operation of the organization in question, ergo the freedom to establish an organization/religion is real and alive That the Government makes a tax exemption and sets rules, is it's executive prerogative, which doesn't violate the separation of church and state You cannot perceive this as a discrimination either. Consider you have 10 ppl that are in debt with you (TAX) and you set a measure by which you will decide to pardon the debt (tax exemption) if you decide to waiver 8 out of 10, that's your business, you're not obliged to (I'm not going into the fact that politics can/will influence the decision in awarding tax exempt status, but that's not at the heart of the "separation" question) Btw I don't live in the US, just an ex Law student Peace Edit I forgot to mention that "the separation of state & church", is just a concept which can differ greatly from state to state or country to country Don't fool yourselves, the 2 have been great lovers in the past, and both try to rule your lives, the church may have been "officially" banned from office, but is still a very powerful political party. The proof is, in all that the Atheists are bitching about here on YA 24/7,they'd be happy if all ties were severed Peace

Do those who keep bees try to pressure those who don't keep bees into beekeeping????

That'd be a major concern of mine...and I'd think that a beekeeper candidate wouldn't rank it too high as a major issue, as long as the majority, the beekeepers, voted them into office....

There's nothing wrong with them voting for a beekeeper, provided that beekeeper doesn't then use his position to put maple syrup makers out of business (for instance).

I say if you want a beekeeper for President, vote for him or her. I love honey.

"Separation Of Church and State " has been manipulated and twisted to mean something totally different than what our Forefathers meant for it to represent.

"Separation Of Church and State " Is so that the Government CAN NOT silence the church, and keep the church confined to certain places, like homes and church buildings. It is so that they CAN NOT keep the church out of schools or from becoming a President or someone in Congress.

"Separation Of Church and State " is so that no one can claim nor make this Country a specific religious denomination, examples: Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran...and so on.

The First Amendment proves this to be true "Freedom Of Speech" was first given to Christians and then the media.

There are many things in our Constitution that proves that our Constitution and our Laws were based on the word of GOD. This is why The Ten Commandments of Moses was in our Courts and our schools.

There are some who deny GOD to be real that have tried to remove God and His Son from all public and Government places. They have removed freedom of choice from our children to make up their own minds if GOD is real or not.

We now have more unruly children than ever before. Our schools have become a dangrous place to sent our children and many teachers believe that they can force their unbeliefs on our children and we as parents are to surender our children to all this corruption. Our courts have become unfair towards the victims and unbalanced in their judgments.

But bees do kill! There is no seperation of church and state it is man made! How can you seperate what you believe when you take office ,you cant, what you can do is represent people as best you can as it says We the People All Men all faiths all who seek should be represented fairly! Does no discount we are a Christian founded nation and majority are still a form of it or claim to be. In democracy majority rules! Why we have such a great nation!

The difference is that there is only one way to keep bees, but there are many ways to believe. If a candidate is elected who represents only those of his particular faith, people of other faiths or of no faith are not properly represented. Those elected to political office must be willing to represent ALL of their constituents, or must not be allowed to represent any. Government is of ALL the people.
Why is it that you thumpers never 'get' that?
And incidentally, b/n is not an abbreviation for between, if that's what you intended it to be. Spell the word out, it's less ambiguous that way.

In truth, there cannot be since both claim to want to do the RIGHT thing. However, each entity doesn't seem to know what the RIGHT thing to do is, so therefore is the TRUE separation.
