The bible fits neatly into the back pocket where as the entire human knowledge of chemistry would require a truck to cart around.
Understanding chemistry to any great depth takes years of study. People can decide to 'understand' God in an instant.
One system is obviously much less difficult than the other so....

Chemistry explains HOW it's manually done, but it cannot explain why.
Science can explain how the world/life functions but can it explain why we have emotions, beliefs, memories? Sure they can tell us that this atom crashes into this other one, the body functions this way and creates these chemicals that create these reactions, but that is only the effect, not the cause. Life has so many stimuli that it's exceedingly difficult to explain definitively why we continue to live, why we have the compulsion to breathe in and out every day, allowing our hearts to pump, providing oxygen and life to the rest of our being.
Also life is separate than spirit/magic, if it wasn't having someone 'living' on life support in a hospital while being utterly and irrevocably brain dead would never, ever happen.
What about the singular fact that in certain circumstances (a major traumatic accident) that if a person just loses hope that there is nothing that medical science can do to save them. Even though in the same situation, if the person simply held onto hope they would have fully recovered.
Science alone is not the answer, therefore people in general need something outside themselves to believe in to explain the yet unanswered questions.
And I for one would not want life without magic, it would be like cookies without the sugar and spice! :D

If you look at the history of Religion you will see that there has always been a God or Gods that created the rules that society was supossed to live by. These laws were handed down to the people that were in power and the people in power governed over the society using these God given laws.
The people with all the money needed a way to control the masses. They need to keep the poor people from killing the righ people and taking all their stuff. There has always been a lot more poor people than rich people.
Religion is about crowd control.
Why else would the Bible say that it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to get into heaven? The people that wrote it want the poor people to feel as though their treasure is stored in "heaven" and that it is ok for the rich people to get everything they want down on earth because they are going to suffer for eternity.
Religion also keep terminally ill people from going on killing sprees with a hit list. When people find out that they are dying they turn to religion and forgive everyone that has wronged them so that they can be forgiven by God and go to heaven when they die. Just think if it were not so...people would get cancer and run out and kill everyone that ever pissed them off. What would they have to lose if they did not believe in an afterlife?
If people did not believe in an afterlife they would do all kinds of crazy things. Suppose they get HIV. Instead of praying for a cure they would rob every bank from New York to Mexico and hope to get away. If not...what do they have to lose?
Maybe that is the problem with this society. People have started to realize that their really is no afterlife. That it was made up by the people in power and so they disregard any superhuman consequences and do whatever their little minds tell them to do. They don't care what is right and what is wrong. There are a lot of selfish people out there. They just want what they want and they want it right now.
It is not religious people that need to create a god to explain life. It is the people in power that need to have religion in order to stay in power. Think about it.

Intresting! not The word Pharmacy is derived from the Greek pharmakia which means...medication The greek Pharmakues is a druggist or poisinor. This in the Bible translates to sorcery. So if you can explain life with chemistry means your dabbling in occult. However this pertains to illegal drugs not all are harefull. But you see majic has always for all time been associated with man made Pharmacies! So explain about chemicals again! Show proof of how it happened and where matter originated from and how,not theory but proof! Then come back and tell us how preposterus it is to believe in God! Take care dig deeper into spiritual side of yourselve you'll be happier, MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Human is weak, they always need someone more powerfull than them to ask him for help when no chemistry is there to help them, so they need some one who can control the chemistry we are seeing now.
also by the way who made chemistry and physics and every thing else.

Because they are less likely to trust rational thought.
Most Christian theists think that rational thought is too "human" and humans are naturally sinful - and so rational thought is to be ultimately rejected for explanations that chemistry could explain and predict very well.
Unfortunate, because much of the practice of religion itself is a product of rational thought. I think that if as much brain-power were put into questioning their own faith as has been developing ways to promote their fantasies, they would be far better off for the rest of us.

maybe because chemistry leaves the heart and mind unsatisfied. chemistry is physical and the mind needs more than a physical hope it needs a spiritual fulfillment.

Do you really think that all of the wonders of creation , such as evolution, chemistry, biology, astronomy, and all of the sciences that simply describe existence came into being by themselves randomly?
Everything has a beginning.
To have a beginning, everything must have Someone to give them that beginning.
That Someone must be outside of the physical manifestations of reality as we can understand it so as to start or give rise to said physical manifestation.
That Someone is God/YHWH/Allah, Subhanna wa Ta'ala.
Only person ignorant enough or stupid enough to think that existence arises by itself under its own power believe in "magic".
