Yes I would think so, flea collars are awful things. They often cause reactions, and they do NOT keep fleas away. All they do is ward fleas away from the neck area, so they just hide elsewhere on your pet.

Get the collars off, they are not doing anything except annoying your cats. The fact that they would cheap ought to have told you something - but even the more expensive flea collars are pointless.

Get some proper flea treatment from a vets. Indoor cats are not safe from fleas, and no store-bought flea treatments work - stores aren't licensed to sell the appropriate chemicals. You need Frontline, Advantage, Revolution or Advocate.

We adopted two cats and one had a collar on. She kept scratching around her neck. I took the collar off and washed her neck, and she stopped scratching. Some cats are allergic to these collars.

If your cats don't have fleas, they don't need flea treatment if they are in the house all the time! I have had indoor cats all of my life, and none have ever had fleas.

Make sure they don't have fleas. If they do, get something from the vet to treat them. If they are scratching for no reason, their skin may be terribly dry. You could take them to a groomer and have them bathed in some shampoo for dry skin.

Good luck!

it could be that your cats just don't like the idea of having something around their necks. Also, due to the winter..they may have dry skin, so the active ingredients in the flea collars are irritating their already irritated skin.

Yes, especially if they're not used to wearing them. The collars may be agitating their skin causing a reaction. Or like you said, the collars are cheap and therefore causing more bad than good. If it were my cats, I'd take the darn things off asap.

The collars don't work, especially if the cat already has fleas. And they may irritate them. Buy Frontline spray or spot-on.

flea collars are about the worst thing you can do for cats to prevent fleas. does your cat have a flea problem now? get some frontline or advantage. Flea collars have been known to kill kittens and cats.

if they are indoor cats and have no fleas, why would you do that? if they have fleas, the fleas may be moving around because of the collars. the collars are not without their own problems.

the fleas are more active because they are going to die. check in a few days to see if red irritation comes.
