I'm getting married in 2009, and planning ahead. I wear two diamond rings, one on each hand. One is my engagement ring, the other was a gift from my 18th birthday. The 18th birthday ring is tight, and therefore leaves an indentation around my finger. I don't want these marks in the photos of my wedding, so need to know roughly how long before the wedding I should remove the ring. So far I have removed it for a week, but it's still really clear, and the skin under the ring is shiny!!

Does anyone know how long it might take for the indentation to fade?

well if you are not getting married until 2009, why don't you just take it off now. Better to be safe since it might take awhile. Maybe you can wear the ring on a necklace so you don't have to part with it. Hope your indent goes away and if not you can always resort to makeup on your wedding day. Congrats and good luck.

I really wouldn't worry about this for pictures- I doubt any of the pictures will be so close to that hand that you'll be able to see a ring mark. If you want to be safe, take it off now.

I'm not sure, can't say that I've heard of this. But if you take your too tight ring to a jeweler, did you know that he can make it bigger? They can expand the ring so that it fits. Maybe you could try that! Then you wouldn't have to take it off. :)

Hey, I love this answer from the boy above!! Sure, if you get married it´s more important what happens inside your soul...
Anyway, if it bothers you that much, just try with water proof make up.
I have worn a really big ring on my middle finger for several years and I took it off because it bothers me working on the computer in the office and now 1 year later you can still see the mark if you look closely...

after about a year it should close up but there will always be a scar and when you get it re pierce tell the person you got it pierced before or you could have some BIG issues!!!

Even if it doesn't go away in time, the photos will be touched up and you won't even be able to tell the mark was there! Gotta love modern technology!
