God told that very reason: (Thumbs up Kathleen C!)

Exodus 33:20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. 21 And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: 22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:

Guess who the protecting Rock is!

Psalm 62:6 He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. 7 In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

That would be Jesus.

Mat 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

There's NO man pure enough!

Well, does God need an excuse? He may have already shown his face but it might have been 2000 years ago. We don't know what Jesus looked like, either. There are no photographs or paintings of him from when he was alive. Nor do we know what George Washington sounded like, as there were no recording methods at that time. You obviously believe in God, so the way you picture Him is all that matters. It's similar to why Muslims won't allow any images that portray Muhammed. If he were seen as only human, faith would have less meaning.

I dont know if there is a god or not.
But i do know that if it exists, to show up would cause 50% of the population of the earth to believe it is the Devil, 40% would go after it with cameras to take pictures and Bibles to get an autograph and the remaining 10% would try to capture it for tests...
So whether there is a god or not, humans certainly dont deserve it.

The question you need to answer is "Would you recognize God face if he showed it? Is God's face going to appear in the same form as a human, or will God's face manifest itself in a different form? Do you recognize the physical aspect or do you recognize the deeds? Is a miracle explained by science any less a miracle?

Kathleen C is right. God is too holy to be seen with our bare eyes. look at what happened to moses, for example, when he "saw" God atop the mountain in the form of a burning bush...his looks changed dramatically and he became older and that's just a burning bush. just imagine what would happen if he actually saw God's face.

You might want to demand a good excuse from a religious authority.

I think he does shows his face , and sometimes very clearly but we dont want to see it. You can see the face of God in people kindness. In the real braveness. When you are desperate and pray. etc.
