Jesus allowed Himself to be baptized as an EXAMPLE to us as what we were to do to attain salvation after His death on the Cross rendered OT laws obsolete and fulfilled the Abrahamic covenant.

Jesus was baptized because he was born a man. Jesus was perfect before he became a man in the flesh so therefore Jesus is a perfect living example of how we was to live our life's and this meant that Jesus was to wash away his earthly sins, even though he never did sin. Jesus also died just like a regular man does and we all know that Jesus really didn't have to die. Jesus did all these things so that you and me could know how to live our life's and so that he could come to die so that we may have everlasting life. Thank you and God Bless You!

It was Jewish law that you couldnt teach in the temple unless you were baptized. Baptism is not a remission of original sin. It doesn't say that anywhere in the Bible. Baptism is an outward expression of someones faith. John the Baptist said he baptizes with water, but (Jesus) will baptize with the spirit.

Think of when Jesus cleansed the leper. They were considered filthy and anyone who touched them would also be regarded as filthy. However, when Jesus touched him the opposite happened...Jesus cleanliness and holiness filled the man. He was cured and forgiven. Now think of Baptism. Jesus did not need to be baptized and He even said this to John when He went to be baptized. However, rather than Him accepting Baptism, His holiness flowed out and made the Sacrament Holy. Heaven opened up, the Spirit descended and God was pleased with His Son. :)

We were baptised because we accepted Jesus as our Saviour not because we have inherited a sin from our fore parents. Pls be sure of what is baptism about... ask your pastors. Jesus was baptised (God told everyone that He is His beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased). Matthew 3:13 - 17. He is part of the Trinity. He is Holy and pure. If you are not sure please ask Church leaders for further clarification.

Well, in actual fact in the scriptures, Jesus never called himself THE son of god but only A son of god. The term was a common Hebrew term used to indicate one's alliance to god, i.e. calling oneself a son/child/daughter of god, as many people still do today. Jesus himself never claimed to be the actual son of god. The people of those times never claimed it. It was only after John's writing many years after Jesus' death [he never actually even saw Jesus though he claimed to have been a disciple] that it was decided that Jesus was not just a prophet but the actual son of god. Many battles and councils were fought and held to get a conclusion on this and there are still different opinions on the matter today. Ridiculous that christians today believe it so assideously, yet not surprising considering that they usually know nothing of the history of their religion.
So Jesus was baptised by John the baptist [a different John than the spoken of above] because in the end he was a man like any other. Even though I'm an atheist I know that a preacher existed that inspired the whole life of "Jesus", he is written about by acknowledged historians such as Flavius Josephus. It must be noted however that all those who wrote about him wrote 100 years or more after his supposed death.
If you want a good example of the whole "son of god" issue that correlates with reality, read the fantasy series "A Crown of Stars" by Kate Elliott. Her sub-plot is almost entirely based on the whole issue there was at the time whether Jesus was the actual son of god or only god's chosen messenger. It was at first considered a heresy to suggest that Jesus was more than a man, but in the end the council voted in favour of it and still today christians believe it. That is really why the Islamic and Jewish faiths see Jesus as a prophet, a messenger, but not the son of god and consider the Christians' take on it as a blasphemy because they don't believe that one can "humanise" god.
Anyway, I'll stop rambling now... ;)

according to the Bible (and the Catholic church) we are all born with original sin (from when adam and eve ate the apple). Jesus didn't need to be baptized, but he wanted to lead by example, I guess. He was baptized by his cousin, John the "Baptist" (go figure).

Jesus was a man?God made all of us but we all Sin even Jesus read your Bible on how he was tempted and followed Satan. He died for us cause he knew we were all in big trouble and wanted to save us he thought his Father had forsaken him that he had to endure such pain but he did it for us he knew we would keep on doing things that would not please God. Did Jesus have a Son? Read about it in the Holy Book.

that is not the only reason.
a person is baptized to testify that he is willing to accept God. meaning, Jesus was baptized in order to set an example--for us to accept God as the Supreme God and Creator of "the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1)
