It is only illegal if they are under 16. Whether it is ethical is another question entirely.

If the student is an adult then there is nothing wrong. Even if they still attended the school and/or your class, it's legal, just more so a question of ethics in that case. However if the relationship started before your student was 18, depending on the conduct that took place then, you could have a problem. Statute of limitations varies, but for minors usually is between 5-10 years.

Once a relationship between the two as student and teacher taken place, it is not at all advisable to have a look like that. If she is ex-student also it is not advisable until and unless she is having matured thinking although she is 18 or above. Sex is essential for human being. But above necessity it will make man beast. Man must and should live as a human being and leave this world as a full man that is by giving love to all and taking love from all.

Of course not. It's not illegal to date anybody. It can certainly be prohibited by "company policy" at times, and that should be true of any teacher/student pair, or boss/subordinate pair. It can also be in really bad taste, if it's not against company policy. But the law doesn't concern itself with romantic conflicts of interest. I'm thinking you meant something other than "illegal".

I don't see any reason why it should be illegal if they are both 18 or older and no one of them is a dependent student. It should not matter what happened years ago!

no.

My brother's girlfriend from high school married a teacher that taught her there at the HS. Some people complained because they thought something was going on while she was under age but there was nothing they could legally do once she turned 18.

Not illegal but you must be dating that ex-student of yours because you really care for them. If you are just taking advantage of their youth and you are using your power over them, then, that is not morally correct.

Not a bit. May prove a bit awkward, but it isn't illegal. At that point, both are consenting adults.
