There is no Global warming. There has been no temperature increase in the last ten years and only one degree increase in the last hundred years. The Antarctic ice cap is increasing in size.

There is really nothing you or anyone else can do to "combat" global warming. Past warming cycles (and there have been many) have all culminated with global temperatures rising to a level of about 3 degrees Celsius above current temperatures. There is no reason to believe, based on scientitic evidence, that this current warming trend will not reach these same levels.

If, however, you are interested in saving energy, which will as a secondary benefit decrease the emissions of carbon dioxide, then there are a number of things you can do. Most have been covered in past answers, but to recap:

Use compact flourescent light (CFL) bulbs instead of incandescent ones where ever possible.

Set your thermostate down to 68 in winter and up to 78 in summer.

Drive less, plan you trips to accomplish multiple instead of taking separate trips each time you need to do something.

Inflate your tires to the proper pressure, this will save considerable fuel. It will also make your tires last longer.

Recycle everything you can. My community picks up glass, plastic, aluminum, paper, and steel.

1 Ensure the house is properly insulated
2 Adjust the thermostat so that the house requires less energy to keep it at the desired temperature.
3 Switch off lights and electrical appliances when they are not being used
4 Compost waste vegetable matter. Recycle what you can - 5 paper, tins, glass etc.
Don't buy items with excessive or non recyclable packaging unless there is no alternative
6 Use your car less. Walk when you can. Use a bicycle if you can. Use Public Transport if available.
7 Arrange to work at home sometimes if that is practical.
8 Encourage your employer to look at the way it uses energy.
7 Don't fly unless you have to and if you do buy an offset.

Relax and enjoy a beer. It's the Sun, not man, that causes all warmth on Earth.

Enjoy the warmth while it's here.

"Instead of professed global warming, the Earth will be facing a slow decrease in temperatures in 2012-2015. The gradually falling amounts of solar energy, expected to reach their bottom level by 2040, will inevitably lead to a deep freeze around 2055-2060," he said, adding that this period of global freeze will last some 50 years, after which the temperatures will go up again.

Polish up your cooking skills and cook at home and bring your lunch (could be left-overs) to work in reusable containers. It might be a little extra work at first, but becomes a habit after a little while and saves a lot.

All you need to do is "get the word out" like Algore does. He owns 4 houses and flies around in a private jet. So its obvious that cutting back on your consumption isn't the real solution.
