You are wrong. The most fun to watch tv cooks are Ina Garten, Nigella Lawson, Sara Moulton, and Giada De Laurentiis. They are passionate about food and have friendly, warm personalities, not to mention being very informative and great at explaining things. They are not egomaniacs like Alton Brown and Emeril Lagasse.

I think women see cooking more seriously then men do. I think men are more bored by cooking therefore, they have to make it a circus to stay interested in what they are doing.

Woman also do 95% of the cooking in life. I am a chef, I am a woman. If I am cooking all day long, no way I am in the mood to cook at home. Maybe that carries over to the show for female chef's. btw, my husband of 34 years is a chef as well. lol NICE, and I still LOVE watching him. We've been cooking in the kitchen for decades now.

The women on the cooking shows talk like thier a teacher in a classroom, like its a bunch of 6 year olds watching them. The men have fun with it and just cook not teach. Im a male chef and I use power tools and all kinds of crap to cook with lol its alot of fun.

The first poster seems to be right on the money, in my opinion.

From what I've seen on FoodTV, chefs like Mario Batali (though no longer around), Bobby Flay, and Emeril, and cooks like Alton Brown seem to make the cooking about entertainment and flair, as well as making a good meal. Watching Rachael Ray or Giada makes me fall asleep because all they really do is say "This is how you do this, and this is how you do this." Emeril will light a pan on fire, at least, and Alton seems to gear his show toward the ADD addled mind.

It almost seems, at times, as if the female cooks have forgotten that feminism occurred, so they gear their programming toward domesticity, with sex appeal to gain male viewers. The male cooks, on the other hand, seem to be genuinely passionate about food and its relation to social gatherings and want you to be able to share such things with your family and friends. Just my opinion, though.

Also, in regards to previous posters, I would like to note that most professional chefs and cooks have been male.

I am a cook but more so love to entertain and as a man have heard the ...girls like to watch men cook. Most women like to be taken care of; so what better way? But it also shows a sensative side I think. Attention to detail, presentation, romantic...and doing for just you. He could be catering to all of your favorites. Men think its exciting for a woman to be able to change a tire or tell you... you are fired. Times are changing and I think people like different or whats on the other side of the fence. Every sense is there. Its a man slowing down, recognizing this, and bringing them all out. (wierd huh?)

Funny, most of my favorite cooking shows are hosted by women. Maybe it's just the personality of the particular chef you are watching. I used to love Nick Stellino.

seems to me, you have lost music of your values in case you had any. resembling the abused baby who turns into the abuser, you have become the individuals you hated starting to be up. My advice could be to apply your newfound "all that and a bag of chips" as an hazard to clear out by way of all the ladies you meet and discover the only for you. in case you do no longer, I assure you, the tables will ultimately turn lower back and you would be on the different ingredient lower back. A depressing, previous, obnoxious jerk who no person will provide the time of day lower back. Then what? would desire to even elect to contemplate scientific care. the two way, good success to you.

I think its because we know men usually don't cook. Knowing one can is a turn on if they know how to cook then that means they can do other things like clean and work hard. most of us fantasize of them being our man or wish our man can cook to. then you got the manly voice its intimidating but yet soothing and sexier oppose to an annoying high pitch voice.

male chefs tend to be more enthusiastic about what they're cooking whereas female chefs tend to be more "look at me"
