to buy my brother's wife, prudy prude who lives in the city of prudeville, adult toys for xmas? I bought and mailed them out already gift wrapped. But now I am second guessing that idea.

I can see 3 possibilites here:

1) Your sister-in-law is already aware that you call her names and that your behavior is attention-seeking and crude; so she will not be surprised or hurt by the gifts, and will likely laugh it off.

2) Your sister-in-law will be suckered into thinking that you made a nice gesture; and will be angry or offended, leaving your poor brother to hear about it.

3) You were bored when you wrote this question and simply made up a story to stir things up a bit and see what type of responses you'd get.

If you are second guessing, then you know this is going to cause a bit of embarrassment. My suggestion is that you drop a note, an email, or a call to your brother that this gift is to be opened privately with her husband and not in front of the kids. That would be a kindness, and then the joke can be appreciated.

Let me add a #4 to Sandwich's answer.

4. Your sister is law now knows you have the hots for her and want to DO HER! Why else would you get her adult toys? Now she'll be horny for a piece of you!

I think joke gifts are generally a waste of money. How do you know she's a prude, anyway? What people seem to be and what people are is often different.

Why would you do this? What business is it of yours if she is a prudish person with no sense of humour?

The idea of giving a gift is to show your affection or warmth of feeling for someone.

Your brother's wife doesn't need or want your commentary on her life, anymore than you want hers on your life.

It sounds like this is less a gift than revenge for some sort of comment or attitude on her part. Did she send you some book of prayers or something?

It's up to you what you do, but you can probably expect trouble from this 'gift'.

Good luck!

um, ya. i don't mean to sound like a prude myself, but sex toys are usually given as gag gifts to close personal friends. it's gonna be embarrasing for her to open on christmas if she has to open it infront of others, and she's just gonna think you're weird next time you see her especially since you make it sound like she has no sense of humor and can't take a joke. leave buying sex toys for her to your brother next time.

Yeah I reckon second guess it. Doubt hubby would be impressed and definately show his jealous side. Sure you aren't the one that wants to play and not you're brother.

Good work, if you are lucky she will unwrap them with a flourish in front of some maiden aunts :-)

you'd better call and tell them not to open it in front of other people!(unless you want them to be humiliated) By the way, what does your wife think of this?
