Nihilist here...existence of god does not affect my morals.
Many Christians also claim that only those who believe can live a moral life and those who do not believe in god have no moral compass. That implies that one lives a moral life, not because it is the right thing to do, but because god expects us to be moral. Again, the fallacy with this reasoning is that mitzvahs and morals should be followed because god or a holy book dictates rules to us and not for personal philosophical or spiritual reasons.
I believe atheists' moral values are stronger because they come from within. Christians' values are dictated to them by a book -- their questioning where atheists get their values from implies how lost Christians would be were it not for someone, some book, some sky fairy dictating values to them.

There were many good, moral people who lived before Jesus, and there are many good, moral people who do not care if Jesus lived back when.

Jesus didnt define morals, he upheld the morals lost through time. These beliefs and morals were preached to the people by all Gods Prophets.

Morality , goodness r inherent human quality with which he comes in the world. Jesus had nothing to do about. One has to use his consciousness before doing any thing bad or immoral in society where he lives.

I was never a 'good' and 'moral' person. So why would it start there?
Besides all that, there is the complexity of Jesus being the one who created everything. Since He did, then there wouldn't be any me to be or not be 'good' or 'moral', would there?

Yes of course. People in other cultures who did not know any Christian beliefs still survived and lived in societies ok. Remember Christianity spread from Israel and into Europe. It took many years for this religion to reach most of the world which was spread through europeans. As much as people from all races and cultures do silly things there is some sort of common sense between us all.

There are lots of good moral people who are not Christian. Morality has nothing to do with organized religion.

If Jesus never lived... mankind would have been terminated long ago.
GENISIS 6:5-6
5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
NOTE: Mankind's morality or self righteousness is no substitute for God's holy righteousness...

Yes, I could. Your parents have a great deal to do with your moral character and they raised me right.
