If we remembered every dream we had during the night, we would go mad trying to cope with that much information, so we remember the ones that are trying to call our attention to a specific problem that needs to be worked out. There is something in your relationship with your ex that needs to find closure, and the dreams are trying to call your attention to it. Write down any dreams you remember each morning to look for patterns. Dream symbols are a kind of shorthand designed to convey an entire concept in a short amount of time to tell the story. When you have several dreams written down, look them over to find out what they have in common. Look for patterns, look for puns, look at the tone of the dream, and see if you can find a message there. To know that your dream is about your ex is not enough information to go on, it depends on where you are, what he is doing, what you are doing, and other symbols and how they interact with each other to tell you a story about your self..........

Maybe you deep down feel bad about breaking up with your boyfriend and thinking that the relationship should have kept going because u and him still had feelings for each other. If I am way off sorry, but I am just using this for an example. Hypothetically speaking, if I was right here, well that is why you keep remembering these dreams about ur ex boyfriend. Because God is like trying to tell you something here, that you and your ex boyfriend need to get back together or something and he won't stop giving you these dreams about him until you do.

Often our dreams are a result of our brain trying to flush out 'emotional arousal' and so all these dreams about your ex-boyfriend are just because you may have had an emotional time recently with your ex-boyfriend.
