Obviously talking with English speakers in English is important, but the fastest way to obtain new vocab is through reading, think about it when you read you are processing tens of thousands of words an hour while if you are conversing you might only get exposed to a few thousand.
Try comic books, Marvel sells big thick ones that are reprinted in black and white (this makes them much cheaper so you get many more pages for your dollar) they help because often the drawings on the page make the context so clear that you can infer the meaning of a new word without having to pause to look it up.
Good luck.

If you want to expand your vocab and help people at the same time, go to http://freerice.com. They show a word and you choose the correct meaning from a list of 4 synonyms. For every word you get right, sponsors of ads on the site donate food via United Nations. There are 50 different levels, so you can keep working your way up.

First, get to know what your future occupations require in terms of speaking ability. Identify terms and words most frequently used there. Find the meanings and practice them in conversation. Watch models of people speaking using those words, and try to imitate their style, their pronunciation, the way they string words to make complete and fluent expressions. Practice and practice, record your voice and have others comment on your performance. Good luck.

Read the newspapers everyday. Better if you read out loud. Watch movies in english and always use the english language when talking to someone. You'll see a big improvement in a few weeks.
Good luck.
