There will be some difference, not a huge amount though. The quality of anything that you put into a Next Gen. gaming system is going to look better. Your regular DVD's will also look better but Blu Ray Movies will look amazing. And people saying that the PS3 isn't backwards compatible that is false, to a certain extent. If you buy a 40GB PS3 than it will not play any other Play Station games, but the 60GB and 80GB will play almost all of the previous titles.

It depends on the settings, the ps3 can play ALL PS2 and PS1 games (some arnt fully compatible yet the may skip but each update improves the ammount of games that work) unless you have the 40gb version. The settings can allow you to play as the ps2 shows it or with texture smoothing which can make the games look that little bit better.

The PS3 is not a rip off its great value for money, the 360 is a rip off
PS3 comes with Blu ray dvd player wifi conection and free online gaming to name but a few, whereas the xbox all these and may more options are aditional extras which boosts the 360 price to $/£100+ more than the PS3.

Also almost everything you do on the 360 online even after your paying the subscription costs more money just changing your online screen name cost 800 pionts which woks out to roughly $9.99 or £6.85. You can buy FULL games on the playstation store for £3.50 (i live in the UK so i don't know the US prices)

I just played God of War on my PS3 and I can tell you there's no visible difference in playing it on the PS2 vs. the PS3. So I'll go ahead and answer your question in one word: No.

It can upscale PS2 games, but you won't get a huge difference. Only 20GB, 60GB and 80GB can play PS2 games.

There is a slight improvement but a PS3 is a rip-off anyway.
