My 52 yr old boyfriend gave me a Shrek DVD for Christmas. I do not have a DVD player and already saw the movie once. I kind of thought it was a prelude to some other present, but that was it. It hurt my feelings and I cried everytime I thought about it for over a year. Now looking back, I still dont get what he was doing. He makes over $130K a year and I am not sure what it was about. Any thoughts on this?

The amount of money he makes isn't the issue here - it's the thought that in this case, didn't count. He should know whether or not you had a DVD, whether Shrek was one of your favorite movies, etc. But instead, it seems like a completely random gift he could have picked up on his way to your house. For that, I say he gets an F.

Guys are so stupid. My bf gave me a portable CD player that I found out he won in a raffle at work. UGH! Not to mention I already had one and he knew it. I told him how the gift made me feel (like I wasn't worth the time or effort of getting me a meaningful gift). He made up for it, but I never forgot it. By the way are you still with this guy? Any better presents since then?

This outta make you feel better. My ex got a promise ring for me over at his dealers house.....where he met THE crank skank whom he had started cheating on me with. If that wasn't a big enough insult, he comes home, shoves this crappy ring at me and quickly leaves because, come to find out, he was in a hurry to rush back and do her again, and again, and again. Sadly enough, that wasn't even the worst of it. I don't know who was the biggest LOSER, me or him!!!!

Last year my sister in law gave me foot soap. This year I am giving it back to her as a gag gift.

Do what I am doing, give it back to him for christmas, and then that way you will be able to open a dialog with him to see what the heck he was thinking.

maybe he feels he's an oger who got lucky and found a princess (you) and loves you like in the movie? ..otherwise he is just crazy lol ...but im sure there's some meaning behind that...otherwise it would be too random..why didn't you ask straight out why did you buy me that?
