Hmm... there are some errors in your statement.
The church in Rome was the first to translate the Bible into Latin. It was not the first translation though. It was the Septuagint in Greek, and is still used by many Eastern Orthodox Churches. The apocryphal book are designated deuterocanonical in the Vulgate, taken from the Septuagint. Both OT were translated from the Hebrew Tanakh (Torah), which did not include them. The Protestant Bible follows the Hebrew scheme and does not include them either.
The NT books were accepted as scripture by most churches and Christians prior to the councils listing them. The councils were a gathering of all the Christian churches, not just the RCC, including the Eastern Orthodox. It is not a true statement to say that the (Roman) Catholic church gave everyone the Bible, or that all other "religions" are offshoots of it. Just because it is the most "heavily populated" does not prove that it is the best.
Personally, I liked John Paul... Benedict on the other hand follows the hard-line RCC dogma that it is the only true church. If you read His statement, it was insulting to Christians who are not in the RCC. So much for unity. As for it being the first Christian religion, the first church was in Jerusalem, and James could be said to be the first "pope". Check Acts 15.
Don't take things so personal. While there are some who would go so far as to say the RCC is a cult, many others believe Christians within it are not living to the fullness of the faith. This is because of errors in church doctrine and tradition. Their judgments are about the church, not the people.

Because men and women could instead spend their power breaking down instead than constructing up the Body of Christ. Many make judgments founded approximately what they believe Catholics suppose instead than taking time to truthfully realize what's rather taught/believed. For illustration, my son as requested at college approximately consuming beer at church. He instructed the woman that we do not drink beer, however wine is facet of Holy Communion. Her reaction used to be that she did not suppose him due to the fact that her grandmother instructed her that Catholics drink beer at Mass. She did not desire to take time to truthfully gain knowledge of, however desired to pass judgement on. Another illustration is the belief that Catholics worship Mary. Absolutely no longer. Catholics worship God the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit. A fast evaluation of perspectives approximately Jesus and Mary. Jesus: True God & True Man The Word The Savior Worshipped Mary: Human The Ark That Carried The Word Saved via God Honored With always spent judging others there's commonly little time given to doing what Jesus mentioned he'll pass judgement on us on, Matthew 25:33-forty six.

Judge not, lest ye be judged yourself.
Let him who hath no sin cast the first stone.
Catholicism was not the first christian religion...it is based in pagan ritual. Look at the pope's scepter...it has a sun at the top, suggesting sun worship (the connection between Constantine, the original "supporter" of Catholicism and sun worship is undeniable, too). Additionally, the Jews were the first to "compile" the bible, not the Catholics.

What is false religion?
Why does religion seem to be at the root of so many problems?
The fault lies, not with all religion, but with “false” religion.
False Religion...MEDDLES IN WAR AND POLITICS: How many religions can you think of whose members engage in war?
False Religion...SPREADS FALSE DOCTRINE: Most religions teach that the soul or spirit is some invisible part of a human that survives the death of the physical body. However, the Bible teaches a different doctrine. “The soul that is sinning, it itself will die.” Ezekiel 18:4 Jesus taught that the dead will be resurrected, an unnecessary action if humans had an immortal soul. Does your religion teach that the soul does not die?
False Religion...TOLERATES IMMORAL SEX: Church groups ordain gay and lesbian members of the clergy. What, though, does the Bible teach? It plainly states: “Do YOU not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men.” 1 Cor. 6:9,10 Do you know of religions that condone immoral sex?
How to identify true religion.
True Religion...PRACTICES LOVE: True worshippers are “no part of the world,” are not divided by race or culture, and display “love among themselves.” Rather than killing one another, they are willing to die for one another.
True Religion...TRUSTS GOD'S WORD: Instead of teaching “tradition” and “commands of men as doctrines,” true religion bases its doctrine on God's Word, the Bible
True Religion...STRENGTHENS FAMILIES AND UPHOLDS HIGH MORAL STANDARDS: True religion trains husbands to “love their wives as their own bodies,” helps wives to develop “deep respect for their husbands,” and teaches children to “be obedient to their parents.”
True Religion is available, search for it.

Hmmmm.......the most heavily populated? Remember when Jesus said, "Broad is the road leading off into destruction and many are the ones going through it."?
