If Jimmie Johnson wasn't dominating the series right now no one would care. Matt Kenseth and Kasey Kahne were both caught "cheating" this year and I don't hear a word about them. It's hard to find a team that doesn't have a blemished record when it comes to this but people don't remember other teams because if you're not winning then no one is caring.
The 48 team is the class of the field - they have been for years now and I don't see any reason to think they won't be very strong in '08, too. Go back and read through some NASCAR history - without exception every team that dominated for any period of time was accused of cheating.

Will you just grow up along with all of the other people that are on here that think the Johnson and Gordon are consistently cheating. It is something called HARD WORK!!!
The FACT of the matter is that the drivers that win most of the time have teams that put in the most hours possible to make sure that they are able to win races and win championships. These drivers and teams work their butts off each and every week and whenever they win, it is a testament to how well they have been doing. Plus, these drivers are just good drivers. They win races because they can. They can race their hearts out, race the wheels off a car, and do whatever they need to to win (along with a little luck).
If Junior was winning all of the races, a ton of people would shut up about this just because they are ignorant fans that never think about what they are saying. THINK and GROW UP people!!!

NASCAR has suspended drivers before. But for some reason the events surrounding the cheating the past 2 to 5 years have only been punished by fines and /or crew cheif suspentions(HA_HA_HA).
So if NASCAR would put their foot down and have ANY team that cheats to pack up and go home for the event where thew were caught or the next event there would be less cheating taking effect.
But with the money that NASCAR gets from the teams and sponsors they(NASCAR) can ill afford to suspend a driver or team for an event.

Johnson is not cheating. His crew chief has admitted that he likes to push things to the limit. The secret is to bend the rules and not get caught. Chad Knaus is the reason for Johnson's success, and as long as NASCAR allows things to go on, it will continue, but Jimmie Johnson isn't doing anything illegal. He may drive a car on the edge of the rules. He was certainly the class of the field during the Chase.

Dude- you have no grasp of NASCAR rules or the ramifications of "cheating."
As has been said:
1) Jimmie does NOT cheat. However- Knaus has been guilty of rule infractions.
2) For better than 40 years, crew chiefs and engineers have been trying to get their an edge. Did you ever put your toe just over the line to see if you could? You're a liar if you haven't.
3) The "cheating" has not got Jimmie his titles. Cheating is only a very short-term solution.
Quit hating. The only person you're hurting is you.

how you interpet the rules vs. how i read the rules will always be different, there are still lots of grey areas in the rule book so there is room to cheat or stretch the rules and every team in all of the racing world does it, its cheating when someone sees it as not by the rule book, if its all cars are equal all the time then you get very boring racing and thats whats gonna kill nascar, anyone remember the asa?

dude, do you realized that cheating is the norm in sports. for many years Baseball players where juicing up to get better records in making home runs (hence the 1998 most home runs in a single season home run record race between Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa or the record being broken three years later in 2001 by Barry Bonds or years later Bonds broke the all time home run record.) NASCAR has the cheating problems too. but some get caught and others find a way to beat the rap for cheating. everyone in sports cheats, period, get over it.

It is not him that cheats, it is his team. Everyone on the team is responsible. When they get caught they get punished by loosing driver and owner points. They don't really outright cheat as much as try to bend or test the rules. I am not a Jimmie fan, but he lost a lot of points this year and had to race for a few weeks without his crew chief so I have to give him credit for winning the championship after that.

It's very difficult for a driver to cheat without getting caught. Going below the yellow line at a superspeedway to gain a position, or out of bounds at any track to do so, results in a black flag and an immediate penalty. There is also the judgement call of the "rough driving" penalty, which also results in a black flag. Nearly every driver in the series has been caught speeding on pit road, which also results in an immediate penalty. NASCAR feels that the in race penalties are sufficient, and that additional sanctions, such as suspension or additional points penalties are necessary only when the actions of the driver seriously and blantently endangers others on the track or on pit row. I agree with NASCAR on these calls, and I think they are on top of it.

They could have suspended him for a race or 2 this year and he would have still made the chase and won the championship. GOING FOR 3 STRAIGHT IN '08!!!! BTW, Jimmie just drives the cars and doesn't do any modifications to them.
