My dentures do not look like my old teeth. They are big, not smooth but ridges and uneven. I tried to tell my dentist this and hhe toldme that he thought they lookednice. He won't do anything about it until I make it to 6 months. Is this the norm

they will never be able to make them look like ur old ones... plus why would u want them to be!? Isnt that why u got new ones?! They probably only look big etc because they are new. The dentist just says wait 6 months.. so u have time to get used to them, n if in 6 months u still dont like them.. then get them changed. Imagine the time, money and effort, in changing everyones dentures after they first got them. No one would have new teeth!!

Hi, where are you from? Im in England and recently had upper dentures made for me. It doesn't matter what your dentist tells you, its how YOU feel about them. If your not happy with your dentures your dentist has to work on them until you are satisfied. I got mine two weeks ago and since my gums (had three teeth removed at time aswel) have healed im not happy with mine. One of my teeth is longer than the rest of my normal teeth and my dentures dont actually fir properly at the roof of my mouth. I phoned them yesterday and have an appointment monday.
Before your dentures are made for use for you the dentist is ment to show you several different colours of teeth and you compare these to the teeth you still have so to get the nearest match in colour. This is what my dentist did with me.

If your dentist refuses to make any changes to your dentures you must write to the practice first and state your concerns as these services are also independent contractors and mange their own complaints. Also keep a copy of your letter. If you live in england you can contact the following and they can help you make your complaint.

My dentist informed me they can continue to re adjust my dentures for free upto a year later. After a year i will have to pay.
Hope this helps

if u are on any state funded medicaid, yes, if u want good dentures, then u must pay for them outta your oen pocket. They are usually one size fits all, except for the ridge part that fits over your gums. then they make that to fit.

When I had my temporaries made I had a say in what they looked like before they were made. After all the healing had taken place and the permanents were being made I had a lot of say in what they looked like, too. A lot of changes were made at that time.
