If he's over 18, not very long. You are not doing him any favor by putting up with it. Kick him out, and the school of hard knocks will straighten him out.

Oh, that sounds awful. Sometimes you have to exercise tough love. You didn't give many details, such as his age (which makes a big difference in how I would deal with it), but you shouldn't put up with it. If he's too old to be disciplined by you (over 18) then he needs to know he can't do that anyway. He can be respectful and honest, or leave you alone.
Thats a lot harder to do then to say though, I'm a mom and I hope and pray I never have to exercise that kind of tough love.

Sometimes we have to take a stand. Even if we are hurt by it. The behavior is effecting you and your son. Pray for him. Ask God for the right words to say to him and the right thing for you to do. It is never easy, but I believe it is necessary and will all work out in the end.
"All things work together for good for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose."
God bless you and I pray that God gives you strength to do what it is you need to do, or not do. It is up to God.

When asked how many times we are to forgive someone Jesus replied seventy times seven. However forgiving is one thing, but accountability is another. God forgives us of all of our sins; if confess, repent and accept his conditions. You are to forgive your son, but at the same time hold him accountable for his actions. God can not forgive so long as we persist in our sins. Nor are you doing justice to your son if you allow him to persist in his defiance of your authority.
God bless

Stop that now.
It is very possible he is self medicating. Get him into a good psychiatrist. A third party especially if it is a professional can help him and you establish good boundaries and goals.

If you have to ask that question, then it's too long.
Stop it now. Tough love is tough, but call someone and get it stopped NOW!

I disgruntled agree with toadly: Let him fend for himself for a while: he knows you love him. And I know you love him too.
