In the Bible it says that being homosexual is not a good thing. RIGHT under that passage it says that we must not judge or condemen, that is God's job. I believe that God is merciful, loving, compassionate, and forgiving, and this God would not damn souls to eternal suffering for being who they are. God created everyone, correct? Everything about us is from God, yes? So he must have created homosexuality in people! Know that not everything in the Bible is to be taken literally. That passage speaking of homosexuality could be an old world belief. Back in the day people were dying left and right due to disease and other ailements. Being gay would not help humans repopulate, hence the said passage. I don't think being gay is encouraged, but if that's who you are, why fight it?
There is a difference in spreading the Word, and damning souls to hell. People are not going to be ready to convert to God when the self-proclaimed followers are being extremely cruel and uncompassionate.

From the catechism
Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,141 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."142 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.
2358
The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.
2359
Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

The Bible explicitly says that homosexuality is an abomination to the Lord. It wouldn't be wrong one day and right the next. God did not create man this way. But God does not condemn people to eternal suffering for being gay. Homosexuality is a sin, just like lying is a sin, stealing is a sin, lusting is a sin, being disrespectful of parents is a sin, hating another person is a sin, not forgiving someone is a sin, gossip is a sin, etc, etc.
If God condemns someone to hell for being gay, you can be sure He will condemn a person for lying, for stealing, for lusting, for unforgiveness. One sin is no different than any other- it's all sin, and He can't be around sin of ANY kind.
But you see, God doesn't condemn people for these carnal sins- He only condemns them, (and with great sadness, I'm sure) for their unbelief. The scripture says "God is not willing that ANY should perish, but that ALL should come to repentance.
Remember what John 3:17-18 says, "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. Anyone who believes in Him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the One and Only Son of God.

I'm not religious, I'm not a believer in any higher power. It's just not for me. Having said that, I've no care to disprove or question anyones belief system. There are obvious arguments against the existance of any God or anything that requires faith, however your religion/beliefs should not restrict you from reading any book. Why should you steer clear - its only a book. You say your faith is strong, so why would you not read a book questioning it? Did you also avoid the Da Vinci Code?

I am a Bisexual Christian. ( FYI )
"Everything about us is from God, yes?"
Not sin, and we are all sinners. Justifying sin is not what God wants us to do.
"There is a difference in spreading the Word, and damning souls to hell. People are not going to be ready to convert to God when the self-proclaimed followers are being extremely cruel and uncompassionate."
I agree. Compassion ought to be adhered to because God wants us to be compassionate. He also said the spread the Gospel, which states that though we are sinners, Jesus made a way for us to be saved. So there are a lot of sins to be done, repentance is turning to God through Jesus Christ. Trying to justify sins will not do that. It will encourage people to continue to sin, and maybe do worse. The repentant person who knows that they sin and know that they are a sinner may drive them to Christ. That was the intent of God.
So people who preach the Gospel ought to adhere to it. They need to preach the Good News, and let the Holy Spirit do His job of convicting people. Telling other people that they are sinners won't get it done, but telling people about the Grace of God through Jesus Christ tells them the truth, and the Holy Spirit does the convicting.
Jesus is the friend of sinners.
EDITED FOR ACCURACY.

Created in the image of the one God and equally endowed with rational souls, all men have the same nature and the same origin. Redeemed by the sacrifice of Christ, all are called to participate in the same divine beatitude: all therefore enjoy an equal dignity.
The Catholic Church believes there is nothing sinful about being homosexual. But homosexuals like all unmarried people are called to celibacy.
The Church specifically says that homosexuals "must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided."
Here is the text of the document, On the Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons (1986): http://www.newadvent.org/library/docs_df86ho.htm
For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 2357-2359: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt3sect2chpt2art6.htm#2357
With love in Christ.

The truth is that the Bible says satan has perveted what God made beautiful...... satan is the god of this earth, again, the Bible says it, not me..... I will not apologise for what is in the Bible and is Gods Word...... I do NOT hate nor look down upon anyone...... I leave the judging to God, the seperating to God...... I do NOT know what goes on between a person and God before their last breath..... All I and others are commissioned to do it spread the Word..... I tell the story of Jesus and God and what is truth in the Bible, the rest is Gods job through the Holy Spirit...... I will NOT leave out the so called *ugly* just to apease people...... but, I will NOT push it down their throats either....... To deny any part of Gods absolutes, and there are some in the Bible, things God will NOT tolerate, is to deny that God is who He is..... go in peace........ God bless

Here's my take on it (and NO I do not claim to know everything - any true Christian could not admit to knowing everything about God or the Bible)
God thinks homosexuality is wrong. Bible says so. God also says that sins of all kinds is wrong. Including lying, cheating, stealing, adultry etc.... The only sin that is NOT forgiveable is blasphemy against God.
In Christ's love for us, He died for us so that we may be forgiven. "Nobody comes to the Father except through me".
I believe that though, homosexuality is WRONG and should not be encouraged (just like any sin shouldn't be), it is a sin that is forgiveable and that I have no right to judge them. I'm in no power to judge anyone for anything that they do as I am guilty of my own sins as well. God's will be done in this situation. And I think it is impossible to know exactly what He thinks. BUT I believe that because Christ died, a homosexual is forgiven.

First of all we need to be careful how we judge, it does not say not to judge at all, it says to take a good look at ourselves first.
Second of all God most definitely did NOT create homosexuality, He created man and woman to be together, end of story.... no matter of twisting scripture can get you past that one.
Here is the pattern of sin:
1 - Lust - desiring something we can't or shouldn't have
2- Acting on that lust
3- getting others to join you in sinning
Look at Eve: she saw, she took, she ate and she shared with Adam.
No matter how you slice it, the Bible calls homosexuality a sin, by the way so is lying, cheating, stealing, dishonoring your parents, murder etc...
Gods Word is true, all prophecy that has been fulfilled to date has been 100% accurate. Those who follow God and His Word are not the one's damming souls to hell, we all in our sinful human nature do that all on our own.
Jesus came to pay the penalty for sin when He shed His blood on the cross. Salvation is found only in Him. I hope you see that.
-best regards - Redeemed (by the blood of the Lamb)

When man and women were created they were perfect beings, free of sin, made to follow God's ways. However, they were given the ability to think on their own and make their own decisions(a.k.a free will). As you can see they were not robots programmed to follow His orders. God didn't make anybody gay or lesbian, those are decisions people make on their own. And btw TRUE Christians would not be judging these people since they understand perfectly that they are nobody to judge others. And if anybody choses to be gay or lesbian now you know it's a decision they made not something that God made them do.

No,it is not an old word.Read Romans 1 for starters. It explains sins in detail.A just God must reward our deeds or it would be a travesty to exist or believe in a God.Men send lawbreakers to jail and at times to their death. And Jesus paid the sin debt, but one is only covered by faith. And that does not give one license to kill, steal, fornicate,or sodomize one another.Annie is correct. We don't hate people,we hate sin.And we hope that repentance occurs before a person dies. That's why a true Christian doesn't tell people they are going to hell. They just tell them the truth and the decision is theirs.
