I upgraded my ps3's hard drive to 160gb.When it shows up on the XMB info,it says I have 126/149gb hd space left. I know 149 gb is still a lot more than what I started out with but why is it out of 149gb?

1). OS takes ariund 5GB
2). The actual size of HDD is different from the number you have on the box.
There is no need to worry.

It's just a guess, but
it could just be that XMB in unable to fully use 160GB.

More likely:
hard drives are usually a little smaller than they say on the box. For example, my hard drive is supposed to be 250Gb, but it's technically like 232GB

Part of your HD's space is taken up by system resources and internal software. Same goes if you buy a new hard drive for your computer. An 80GB hard drive usually only has about 74 GB of actual storage space on it.
