As it is with other ingredients of Pepsi there is no danger of getting cancer. But they use a small portion of PESTICIDES as a preservative. So be cautious about Pesticides. Breast Cancer incidence are linked to pesticide exposure. The molecular structure of some pesticides closely resembles that of estrogen. This means they may attach to estrogen receptor sites in your body.
So it is better to avoid drinking Pepsi -

I've never heard this particular rumor. The one I heard was that diet soda in cans causes Alzheimer's disease. Some researchers found that Alzheimer's patients had a lot of aluminum in their brainstems or something like that. Then people thought, well, if cans are made from aluminum, and soda is very acidic...then the soda leaches aluminum from the cans and then you get Alzheimer's. AAAAAAHHHH!!! Sounds like an urband legend to me. Diet Pepsi can cause tooth staining, caffeine highs (and lows), bad reactions for people with phenylketonuria (if you drink the kind with aspartame), excess urination...but then, so does every other diet cola. It's not good for you, but I don't think it's a killer.

Posting a link to an article from the Boston Globe regarding a lawsuit filed in regards to Diet Pepsi's fountain drinks containing aspartame, once suspected of being a carcinogen. That may be the root of what you are hearing: http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2005/03/03/suit_alleges_deceit_in_fountain_diet_cola_drinks/

Actually nobody knows what are the causes of cancer, and it also depends on the people and genetic background for the cancer to develop.

Diet soda causes cancer I know that for sure. Normal soda takes way longer for it to cause cancer.

This is reminding me of when House says "Ma'am do you have cancer?" *shakes her head no* he points to her drink and says "Mango juice cures cancer!"
I've heard this cancer theory about diet soda, but I think it is very unlikely. Didn't they say the same about Sweet 'N' Low?
