Obviously, there is a lot of disagreement over things like the Trinity, creation, the entire book of Revelation... ad infintum. Most of these disagreements usually have both sides citing the Bible as source of their belief. I find this interesting because the has never been anything so intensely studied as the Bible in human history, and it is held to be the ultimate text of authority by many. Yet it's unlikely any 2 people are in total agreement on what it means.

What are some of the beliefs other Christians have, based on their interpretation of the Bible, that you think are wrong, and why do ypu think your interpretation is better?.

It is not a question of "right" or "wrong" but whether God has revealed or He has not. If HE has reveal - you will SEE! and if HE did not - you will be BLIND ! by the dead letters written in the Bible. Those who SEE, the Bible is ALIVE! and the WORDS is SPIRIT!
Is that ok?

You have created quite a quadry. The scriptures tell us to turn the other cheek and to love our neighbors, but they are also full of stories where when the laws of moses were broken, the guitly were punished by death. Some say that only God can deliver the death punishment. Who's to say that God isn't doing just that through our judicial system. We'll know when we see Him. I don't think the penal system (life in prison) is much of a penalty for some of these killers. they thrive on that atmosphere and feel truly at home there. I don't think the people should have to pay (thru tax dollars) for these animals to be housed, feed 3 meals, etc for the rest of theif lives when they are not ever capable of being rehabilitated. Kill 'em and save us millions for the good citizens.

Some folks believe in baptism of infants, which I believe is wrong. The reason? There is not one single scripture where a baby was baptized. It was based on a man-made doctrine of 'original sin', and somebody said that if a person was born in sin, then if they died as a baby without baptism, they would go to hell. If God sent babies to hell for not being baptized, then surely Jesus would have told his disciples to baptize infants. This doctrine is totally unscriptural.

Another is pre-millenialism. There's a whole sect of Christians out there preaching the Anti-Christ, and the tribulation, etc., who don't realize that their doctrine is only about 150 years old, and that it originated with a very sick woman who was a very devout Bible reader. In her confused mental state, she began ranting about the end times, and the book of Revelation. Her pastor, who regularly visited her, thought these rantings to be 'words' from God, wrote them down and taught them to his church. Thus, we have the Anti- Christ, the tribulation, the battle of Armeggedon, etc. I cannot condone a doctrine that came from a crazy woman as being the correct interpretation of the scripture! Most serious scholars of scripture who know their history, know that most of the book of Revelation was fulfilled during the days of the Roman empire.
The historical doctrine of end times was basically a-millenial, meaning that one day, when nobody knows, Jesus will return, and the the earth as we know it will end. God will remove the chaff first (take the non-believers) to throw in the fire, and the rest He will gather into his barn (the rapture of the church). The earth will be burned up and there will be a new heaven and a new earth. End of story. Not nearly as exciting as the new view, but it has been around since the earliest days of the church. I prefer to stick with the view held by the early Christians.

I don't read the Bible with a newer text than the King James. Its one of the first and the best translation into English in my opinion. Although, because it is written down by human hands, no bible is perfect. Through translation a lot of words are misinterpreted or misspelled i.e. red sea or reed sea over which one did Moses cross. Another important example would be the translation of the 6th commandment whereas the word "kill" was used instead the better translation "murder". I believe mistranslations are to blame for most of peoples beliefs/disbeliefs. People will always choose to believe what they want to believe to suit or justify their lifestyle.

Hello Hi Speed,
I think one of the most interesting studies in comparative Christian beliefs is the Deity of Jesus Christ. Many doctrines preach Jesus as the son of God only, however if you compare the old testament with the new you find that the I Am of the old Testament is the I Am of the New Testament, thus Jesus is God.

Very long question that could go on forever, but I found it truly interesting, of course there are many other topics.

Most of these arguments are senseless. The only two arguments worth a fight are the same ones asked by Paul "Who is Jesus" and "What must I do to be saved".

Most of the other stuff just doesn't make a lot of sense to waste time arguing about.

I can't say I know what's right or wrong, I just pray that the Lord will give me the wisdom to understand the Bible for what it really means. And it's still a work in progress...but I've been learning alot.

First off, for everyone, the Old Testament? Read the New Testament afterward. When Jesus came, things were able to change in the world.

So not EVERYTHING in the Old Testament APPLIES to nowadays--it's true, some of it, like some laws, just don't apply. Like sacrifices.

`when you interpret the Bible it needs to line up with all of the Bible not just parts of the Bible. I'm not saying i understand it fully but i am learning . and i listen to what people say about the bible and i see if it lines up with all scripture then if it does i accept it. we need to study Gods word until we understand it.

the bible truly is not a science project. It has many facets, it blesses many millions of people and for different reasons. You should see the good in it, as there is much there to see if you will look closely.
