i now only boys can sing i was wundering if there are other ways

Only the females lay eggs. I don't know about canaries but with most birds the males are more brightly colored.

when a female canary is in prime breeding state she can get a reddish oval spot on her abdomen.you can see this when you turn her over and blow on her feathers above her vent.the other way is that males sing during and prior to breeding season which differs to what climatic area you live in.i live in the deep south and we have to breeding season early spring and fall.some canary hens are naturally quite with only little vocalization.

If it really matters take it to a Vet and have it checked out. But I would only do this if I was going to breed it.
