New to biking. I'm looking for a lightweight bike, only front susp for going on trails/ downhills. I'm more concerned with going fast then doing jumps. Don't know if anyone lives in Burnaby, but I'm gonna be doing the trails up at Burnaby mountain constantly because I live up at SFU. My dream bike would be a fast/light/ easily maneuverable bike that can take some hits.
Price Range: 500-650$$
Some bikes I've looked at are the Norco Bigfoot (kinda big though and hear they have bad forks?), Norco Wolverine, ehh not much else. I can only find one bike shop near me and its pretty small. (Have treks/norcos/devincis) Any advice before I invest in a new bike.

Gary Fisher might have a decent bike in that range. Screw Trek man, everyone on the trail has one. I like Giant. I love Cannondale but not sure if they have something worthy in your range. Keep shoping around though as much as you can.

If you're looking for a downhill bike, weigth is not one of the most sough of attributes, specially for your budget. Find a bike that is solid and good handling.

yeap, for that price range, light weight is not something you will get.
just go with a good reliable bike, like specialized or giants.
