It says my Product Key has exceeded the amount of times it can be used...WTF!! Then they say I can BUY either a new operating system, or BUY a new Product Key which is as much or MORE than the system itself!! What kind of crap is this!! I'm gonna call the phone number it gives, but anyone have any ideas? Will they give me a new Key for FREE, or do I need to BUY one every time I wipe my hard drive??

Naz T has the correct answer here, if you reinstall xp too many times within a certain time you will have to ring them up and activate by phone, just ring them up, you should have no problems. you are only allowed to activate so many times within a 120 day period, if you activate more than allowed within the 120day period you need to activate by phone, and no you don't have to pay for a new key.

U need to backup the activation patch in your system and restore it once u have installed ur OS again... Try to search on net for Activation backup n restore (ABR software)
As of now u may call MS and ask them to activate ur system... then backup that activation files using ABR and keep it safe somewhere.. u might need that every time u wipe ur system..
hope it helps

So far as I know, most software manufacturers allow "X" number of loads. This happened to me with another program and I ended up buying the same program, later version, so I could install on another computer.

It's a business!
