Why would Nissan make 2 cars that look the same?

Maxima is slightly bigger and better looking, cost is a couple thousand more. Maxima is a luxury car, while Altima has a wider range of appeal due to the majority of Altima owners can only afford the 4 cylinder model with few options. A fully loaded Maxima and Altima are pretty even, though I'd probably still go with the Maxima because its more unique. The Maxima is like the Toyota Avalon vs the Camry or Hyundai Azera vs the Sonata, it has the additional luxury features and more standard features then its lesser sibling. Oddly the Altima now has tad power advantage over the Maxima, only a matter of time until they fix that with either the new 3.7 engine or something else. They do need to do a bit better to differentiate these two though.

Look closely they are different. Maxima owners can tell the difference there wallets are lighter each month. 3.5 Liter Altima is a great deal in cars these days. And Altima Owners pay about $100 less each car payment.

Maxima is one step higher then Altima in the Nissan line up. Completely different vehicles.

Physical size and engine/trans options. That's about it. Oh, and price. Maxima is much more
