red thin is a good thing. Smelly brown black Bad. Drain and fill takes only 4 quarts. Buy 5 just in case you want to top off the powersteering too. Your Max takes "Dextron 3 mercon fluid"

Thats Easy Ray! Just look on the trans dipstick for trans fluid type. Its prolly dextron II or III. If you are changing it yourself, replace the same amount that you drained out! I pour the old fluid in a milk jug(s) to determine how much to put back in.
