I am trying to find the best 2 or 3 islands to pursue for a Feb 08 Vacation with the family. 2 adults and 7 and 5 year old boys. We want a 2 bedroom villa on the beach with a pool. Cost is not an issue. I just don't know which islands to pursue. Thanks.

I would check out the US Virgin Islands. I'm a big fan of St John and we enjoy renting a villa when we go there. There are many and most come with a pool and hot tub. Not too many directly on the beach but very close by. The water and beaches on St John are lovely.

I would also check Providencials, Turks and Caicos. Grace Bay Beach is gorgeous and most of the resorts on this beach are condos. There are also some houses to rent. Providencials is a great place for families or couples.

Here is a good site to check for villas/condos on all the islands in the Caribbean.

grand cayman islands is beautiful. London House is right on 7 mile beach and has rentals. St. Thomas is very pretty. Saphire Village is right on the beach and has rentals. These are average / above average type of places for the local standards. If money is not a concern, at all, there are much more beautiful places in these locations to stay. Facility wise. Location wise, these are excellent choices and the accomodations are decent and a good value.

Get some books about the Caribbean from your library. Frommers and Fodors are pretty good and they also have websites.

When you've narrowed it down somewhat, go to those islands' websites and browse. Go to TripAdvisor.com and CaribbeanOnline.com to get lots of good info.

I recently came across a website called homeaway.com that has some great-looking condos/apts/homes all over the world.

If cost is no object, I'd suggest St Thomas/St John - they're tropical but still "American". Grand Cayman is nice for beaches, but not as pretty as USVI; very expensive, no beach vendors to hassle you, gets crazy when cruise ships are in, but if you go away from Georgetown, it's quieter [Rum Point!]. Aruba beaches are pretty, but you might run into "spring break" crowds there in February.

Good luck in finding just what you want!

Try a travel agent as they would know which one would suit your tastes or needs. I understand that there are some great villas near the beaches - try a reputable travel agent as they will handle everything for you.
