I'm buying my girlfriend a promise ring online for christmas, and i was wondering if i would have to pay sales tax on it? I'll be able to get it come monday, but i was just wondering for my own personal budget information.

Depends on where the online store is located. If it's an in-state business, or has an operation in your state, then they will charge you tax when you check out. If it's out of state, you won't be charged a tax when you check out. Technically, you have to pay when you file your income tax, but I don't know anybody who does.

depends on the state you live in...Oregon has no sales tax and if the headquarters is located out of state you won't be charge sales tax, but in general online stores will give out a confirmation email with the exact charges to know for sure.

It depends. If the company you buy it from has a store or other physical presence in your state, you'll have to pay sales tax, otherwise not.

in general, no.
most places online won't charge you sales tax unless they have stores in your state. same with stuff you see on TV, like when they say add sales tax in NJ and CA.... It's cuz they have stores there, or their warehouse is there.
some politicians and states want to create sales taxes for all online purchases, and we out to make sure that never happens....

there shouldn't be, but there probably will be a shipping charge (that's how the online stores make up for not charging sales tax)

if I sell someone something online in california, I have to charge them tax, If they live outside of california, there is no sales tax.
if you are buying from someone outside of california, there should be no sales tax
