Do you tell your children Santa is real?
That He won't bring presents if they are naughty?
That you have to leave Him milk and cookies?
Or is everyone I see doing this a Pagan???

I am a devout Christian, and Santa is coming for my children, I let him know the real meaning for the celebration. But some of the magic is Santa its the wonderful part of childhood. I don't feel its pagan at all just a wonderful fantasy thats harmless,

Yeah, I think members of most religions living in our nation, accept the presentation of "santa". I believed in santa, and the easter bunny until I was about 9-10. I was devastated when I learned that the it was a myth. I got over it, and finally understand why the myth continues. It is way of representing how valuable the dynamic of generosity, and cultural/social, compliance is. I have no children, but I do encourage the participation of generosity. Only I participate in it as a part of my life style.

I NEVER told Santa was real. I had someone break the news to me when I was young, I saw my parents as liar's and I vowed never to lie to my children! I tell them about God sending his son Jesus to be born of a virgin to save us from our sins and to die for us & rise again so, that when we die "IF" we repent to HIM & have a relationship with HIM, we too will go to heaven to join him some day.

I also believe children should have respect for where the money that goes into those gifts come from. Instead of making "Christmas list's" They pray that If it's in Gods will that He will make it possible.
I am not fond of the "fantasy" of santa. what if our country goes thru another depression period or parental hardship of a job loss and no one can efford gifts? You set these children up for this fantasy of "free gifts" and they will be VERY disappointed or even think they did something wrong!!
I do make sure they do not blo it for the ones that do believe though.

Actually Santa IS real, there is a "St. Nick's" day on December 5th. They just tied it in with Christmas as so many other people are to get in on the Birth.

Merry Christmas!

Don't really know. :) Catholics believe in Santa apparently because of Saint Nicholas (say that quickly for a while and it sounds like Santa Claus). Don't really know how the whole naughty/nice thing happened.

As a Christian I tell my daughter that Santa is not real and no one brings you presents down the chimney

well, i don't have kids yet, but i have thought about it. Sure it is a great experience believing in Santa. I think the main issue is you need to focus more on Jesus than Santa. They should want to be good all year long just to make Jesus happy. I think kids can believe in a guy named Santa, but once we make him a god i think there is a problem. My children will not be good for Santa (what has he done to deserve it) someone in my church tells their kids that "Jesus wants to give us presents so Santa is His helper to give us gifts).

I was raised Christian.
My mom told me there was a Santa and that I'd getter "Better" presents if I was good.

Yes I left him milk and cookies...and I know that my dad ate them, but it was neat when I was a kid.

It hasn't distorted my beliefs in a Higher Power.

I DO believe in magic at Christmas... and part of that magic is Santa Claus

My kids have never believed in Santa. They eventually heard the story from, well, everywhere. I just explained that it is a fun make believe story.

We celebrate Christ.

My kids do enjoy watching Rudolf each Christmas season, and Frosty too. They also know that Santa is about as real as a talking snowman.

What do atheists tell their children...
That we come from goo...
That all of nature's marvelous diversity just happened by itself...
That we're just random mutations not worth more than the chemicals that we're made of...
I'll take the Christian version thank you very much.
