If you are on a budget, I recommend Canidae or Chicken Soup brand dog foods. They are high quality, but are very reasonably priced.

Try Canidae. It's not really expensive, especially considering your dog will eat half the amount he'd eat if he was fed one of the grocery brands. It also doesn't contain the ingredients that usually trigger allergies which is a definite plus. It doesn't have alot of filler so you dog will digest more and poo less. It averages $1 a pound and a 40 lb bag lasts me two weeks for one 80 lb dog, two 65 lb dogs, and one 45 lb dog, all of which are VERY active. That should last you at least a month if not more if you only have one large dog.

National. Puppy formula until full grown. Training extra after that. If you are going to do a lot of hunting or field trials you might want to feed competition extra during his working season. Excellent food developed for working sled dogs. Reasonably priced because of little advertising to pay for. Might be hard to find. Check their website nationaldogfood.com and call the 800 number. The list of dealers on the web site is incomplete.

You are much better off feeding a quality food. Your pup is growing, and yes, he needs alot of food right now because he is a growing pup, and a big one at that!
You knew when you got this dog that is was going to get big, or at least you should have... done research and such??
Don't skimp now, your dog's health depends on quality food!!!

Listen - check out Dogfoodanalysis.com. People here are not nutritionists and though you may get some good advice, why chance your dog's health to YA? I wouldn't.

I have always had good luck with Pedigree, I ran my kennel on it. You can get it at Petsmart or Walmart, and I think some of the grocery stores carry it. Stay away from Ole Roy and any food that lists corn as their first ingredient!!!!!

well, walmart has a lot of nice brands and like 5 dlls cheaper then petco or petsmart...i bought my dog's food @ petsmart, it cost me $ 9.99 and in walmart was like 2 dlls cheaper, but if you wanna try petco, they will give you 1 bag for free when you buy , I think 10, so it's a good reward if you like to shop there...
good luck !!
