Well, you are probably closer than you think because God does live inside us!--those who trust Him for salvation, that is. Technically we aren't talking TO ourselves, because we can't forgive our own sins, let alone those of others.

On the contrary it is a heart moving incident. You are more serious and sincere than talking to a man like yourself.

No authority can pardon sins except God. Repenting before
Him is more meaningful and efficacious.

the purpose of christianity is to become more like Jesus or God. All fall short of the glory of God. In that sense, if you were a TRUE christian, you wouldn't try to commit sins on purpose.

That's the whole attraction. Do whatever you, get absolution, wipe the slate clean and start all over again. No fart-arsing around trying to work out what might be the best course of action --- if it feels good, just do it.
