No. That is a feature that your new Canon camera does not have. There are few DSLR cameras currently that have that feature, including the Nikon D3, D300, the Olympus E series, and the Pentax K digitals. Canon only has that on it's EOS 1D Mark III (is that a long name, or what?) or EOS 40D.
I hope you took some time to try out your camera before you invested in it? That's why I recommend that everyone handle and try the controls of every model camera before making a decision. After all, would you buy a car without a testdrive?

Unless you purchased a 40D or one of the professional EOS1 cameras, you don't have that feature. I am not sure why you would want it on a DSLR anyway. It's only real use would be for macro photography using a tripod, and the thru the lens viewfinder works as well or better under those conditions. For bright sunlight photography, you probably would not even be able to see your image on an LCD screen, but that is no problem using the thru the lens viewfinder. This is a feature I consider marginal to useless on DSLR cameras, and I am a working professional photographer.

No, you can't, but if you look just above the screen there's a hole in the camera called a viewfinder.
It's actually much better than the LCD for previewing because
- it has all the exposure info lit up along the bottom
- you can see the focus marks more clearly
- it's shaded from the sun
Try it, you'll like it!

The best choice for you is to buy a SLR. People tend to lean towards compact cameras in favour due to the easy use of them. Have a look at the Nikon D40, not much bigger than a compact and very comfortable to handle. The use of a SLR is very easy if you put it on a automatic mode and there is so much these camera's can do if you want to experiment manually. The Nikon D40 SLR will blow any compact out of the water. Its Truly amazing peace of kit. Google it, its got fantastic reviews and at a price of a high end compact

Yet another question asked by someone who has failed to READ & STUDY the Owner's Manual for their camera.
IMO some classes in photography would be very useful, kmm411.
