Now, there is a crack in the wall and it could have come from there, but I am paranoid that it came from my dog. When I tried to drown it with the sprayer to see what it was, it struggled to get in the crack. Either way I'd like to know what kind of worm it might be. From the dog, what kind? From in the wall, what kind? It looked like a very skinny red long earthworm, but without the thick head on each end, and it was fast.

Thank you for the replies so far. She has had worms in her stool when she was a pup, so I am familiar with those. This was long and skinny and red/pink. I should mention that this bathroom is in the basement. Tape worm are white, so I know it's not tapeworm. I'm pretty familiar with most canine worms, but this has me stumped. I will take her to the vet, but I am leaning towrds thinking it came from the wall.

Like I said, the worm was super fast and did go in the crack. That is why I'm thinking it most likely didn't come from the dog.

Just worm the dog. It doesn't sound like anything that came from a dog, but there is a possibility he picked up some unusual parasite from a larger animal. Dogs should be wormed monthly as a preventative anyway.
If your dog is on Heartguard, it already has a monthly wormer in it.

By the time your pups are full-size, I think it will be too small unless you buy a really big one. Since I always get soaked when the dogs get bathed no matter how I do it, I've decided that getting them in the shower is easiest. I towel them off and then I shower myself afterward. I have to laugh at the advertising pictures of nicely dressed people bathing dogs.

well, the red worm im guessing did not come from your dog
and if u get a fecal test, those will tell you if u have ring worms but not tape worms, my puppy had one and they found nothing, after giving him the flea meds, we found tapeworms in his stool, (looked like grains of rice when they dry up)
but i agree, take the worm to the vet and ask them [hopefully it didnt get away in the crack]

Firstly... yuck.

Secondly... I wouldn't take chances. I would take your dog in for a checkup. Or call the vet and see what they think.
Worms in animals are very common afterall...

I mean there's a possibility it came out of the crack of the wall or whatever... but what are the odds of a worm being there?? I'd say not likely... especially if you live somewhere that's cold in the winter, or the tub is on the second story of the house.

Get you pup checked. It's most likely from him/her....

This is not one from your dog...not what you describe-for sure.

A RED worm did NOT come from your dog---take it and get a fecal if you want to know for sure...your dog may have worms but THIS WORM DID NOT COME FROM YOUR DOG.

It could have been a red worm if from outside.

If it was bright, stop sign red, probably was from your dog. I would assume a kind of ascaris. Get a dose of wormer (ivermectin) to treat. You can get it over the counter or from your vet.

There is a simple test the vet can do for possible ringworm. Simple drop off a stool sample and they can determine for sure if your dog has worms. If so it is very serious if left untreated.

Hate to tell you but dogs are real carriers of all sorts of icky things; tape worm, and many other things. Never let the dog kiss your face or sleep with you.
