I am going to start leading the morning PT in my battalion and wondered if anyone had a good beginner's workout that will last 20-25 minutes. I don't want anything real tough; these guys haven't worked out in a long time!

If you have ever been around the Navy Seabees, you would be aware that they are organized by Division/Regiment/
Battalion/Company.
Please, do you think I am that weird that I would pretend to be in a battalion when I am not?

You have a "couple" of good answers here and a few "not so good ones". Good luck and I think you are a great candidate for the PT leader!!! Go Navy!

I would strongly recomend you taking a look at FM 21-20. If you are going to be giving PT for the LT. COL and CSM last thing you want to do is give it wrong. FM 21-20 also has exellent excercises in it that you can use that can be both challangeing and fun. I know FM's are boring but where do you think most instructors got the ideas for circut training and grass drills? It is all in FM 21-20.

Woah, you're going to lead Battalion PT, and you're asking here??
I reccommend a Bn run. That's always good for a whole battalion.

I have a little question to ask you. According to your profile it states you are in the Navy and 43 years old. By now you should know that the Navy does not have battalions. Why are you asking this question?

Easy! Get some 3x5 cards and write different exercises on them...place them about 30 feet apart on the ground in a circle...have a stopwatch and have every one go around the circle doing each exercise for a specified amount of time (maybe 2 minutes). When you blow the whistle, have everyone rotate to the next card and have them do a different type of crawl to the next card: bear crawl, crab walk, run, (I even told my guys to skip to their next card...good for some laughs and smiles) or have them roll to the card. If everyone gets though each card once and you have more time, have them do team sprints, ladders, and maybe some buddy carries to get some cardio in.
Some exercises to write on the cards: push ups, sit ups, side straddle hops, the engine, over head hand claps. Hope those suggestions help, good luck and have fun with it!

If you have a few sport cones available set up about 5 or more stations and do a variety of exercises..
Station 1..two minutes of push-ups
Station 2 two minutes of sit-ups
Station 3....overhead claps
....crunches
and in between they can run between the stations.
