It's hard to tell sometimes, I didn't think my Border Collie Mix was spayed because I couldn't find a scar, but it was really faint.

The vet told me that she was, and now after 3 years of having her, and no heats, I believe him!

He didn't do surgery, he just kind of felt around and examined.

Usually when a dog is spayed the vet puts a tattoo on her belly. If that is not there the only sure way I know to tell is to wait and see if she goes into heat. Most go into heat twice a year but some only go into heat once a year so it might be a while before you can say for sure. I would call the person you got her from and ask when her last heat was. That would tell you when to be watching her more closely.

You should be able to see a scar although I have seen some pretty good stitch jobs and scars can be minimal. Why are you having doubts? You can always have a vet to do an ultra sound to see if she still has parts.

Yeah... why are you having douts? You should be able to see a scar and you should be able to feel a knot of scar tissue underneath the scar. The vet can be a ble to tell very easily! Good Luck!

There is usually a small scar on the belly, usually along the center line of the dog.
HOw old is she and how long have you had her?
Ask your Vet if they know a better way to tell.

You can feel the internal scar if you feel in the abdominal area. You can't always see a scar because in rare instances vets go in through the naval area.

Doubts or not, do not take a chance and wait until she gets pregnant.

If you don't see a scar, take her to your vet - you should anyway if you just got her, and ask the vet to check her.
