nah....marijuana is pretty safe (I'm dead serious. one piece of advice I will give you that you will follow through with if you have half a brain is this: DO NOT LISTEN TO THE ANTI-DRUG PROPAGANDA THAT YOU ARE TAUGHT AT SCHOOL! the government's MISLEADING anti-drug propaganda has been around since the 1930s, and if you want to be smart instead of just being another sheep, I'd suggest you do your OWN research into drugs instead of just blindly believing the "all drugs are bad. don't do them!" mentality. there are numerous fallacies involved not only in their reasoning, but evidence. do the research, learn the history.)

from my research over the years, i've concluded that the only (minimal) negative effects of smoking marijuana are the following:

1.) over a long period of time, it may slow you down (mentally) a little bit. however, this is only TEMPORARY. it is caused by the active ingredient in marijuana, delta-9 tetrahydrocannibinol, sticking to the neurons that operate in your brain and connect the parts. however, MARIJUANA DOES NOT KILL BRAIN CELLS. this is a MYTH, because the chemicals in marijuana are actually neuroprotective, which means they protect cells from death and degeneration.

2.) although you won't get lung cancer (marijuana smoke contains anti-cancer agents) you can get other lung problems.

3.) marijuana is NOT physically addictive. the only way you can become PSYCHOLOGICALLY addicted to the substance is if you have underlying mental health problems and addiction problems, but the truth is, people that have those issues can get addicted to anything. e.g sex and other behaviours, etc. that are not supposed to be addictive.

4.) because marijuana is not legalized and therefore not controlled, you may inhale OTHER dangerous chemicals. this happens because the people that are growing it may have sprayed the plant with something harmful, such as Windex (which is used by growers to make it grow faster)

Hmm...thats all I can think of for now. If i think of more, i'll add them.

P.S. most of the "facts" from the above posters are tidbits of lies they have heard. refer to what i mentioned earlier. Be smart!

P.P.S. I find it hilarious that people are giving me a "thumbs down"....all it shows is how ignorant and naive you are. not to mention a sheep.

Truthfully it's a lot less harmful than many other drugs but that doesn't mean it is good for you. There are big debates about how good or bad for you it is and that can get pretty confusing, in the end you should research it for yourself and make up your own mind, though as it is illegal that should be a good enough reason to stay away. Getting high is not worth breaking the law for. Personally I think it can be harmful but that is based upon personal experience. I used to smoke it a bit and as first it relaxed me but then it just seemed to make my depression worse and I started to find I felt real ill the next day so I stopped. I know lots of people who smoke it and all of them insist it is great but I look at them and see different. People I know who only smoke it rarely seem alright but the people I know who smoke it a lot, or who have smoked it a long time all look awful, really ill all the time. Well, I have ntoiced memory problems, depression and paranoia. They all say it is not addictive and physically it is true but all of them can't go even a day without it. My ex smoked it all the time to a point that it caused big problems between us. He stopped for 6 months and said that after the first week of not smoking it he felt better than he had in years, so that also makes me think it is bad.

I don't know if these things are all related to weed, it could just be that the people I know who want to smoke it do so because they think it fixes problems they already have. What I would say is that if you have depression, anxiety or any other mental health issue please stay away as from what I have seen it makes these things worse.

Smoking weed is worse for you than smoking cigarettes (and we know how bad those are, right?) b/c the smoke goes deeper into your lungs.

You can also kill brain cells (think of all the people who are mentally slower since they've been smoking weed for a long time)

your sperm count can go down too...

You may think it relaxes you, but in reality it is a drug and it is harmful to both your physical as well as your mental health.

Why do you feel the need to do drugs to relax?

from my personal experience only, After I have smoked for so long it loses it's effect. I use to just laugh and laugh and have a good time. Then it got to the point like I smoke and then it's like I haven't I feel the affects but I'm just sluggish, don't want to do anything, don't want to go anywhere, It's just not like it use to be when I could laugh. I haven't smoked for months and really have come to the assumption that the more I smoked the more depressed I got. I finally have a clear head again.

Apart from the obvious, short term memory lose and associated risks, it's a safer bet than most drugs. I occasional smoke weed but find it less rewarding nowadays though I relax with exercise, wine and simple origami.

Marijuana smoke does not penetrate deep into the lungs like tobacco smoke. Marijuana smoke and tobacco smoke penetrate into different passages in the lungs. Although the smoke contains more carcinogens than tobacco smoke, marijuana dilates the bronchi and encourages coughing to clear the lungs. Scientific studies have shown that there is no link between lung cancer and marijuana use. THC shows evidence of being an anti-tumor, either restricting blood flow to tumors or encouraging and tumor cells to kill themselves like they're supposed to.

It is possible for one to become psychologically addicted to marijuana. There is no substance in marijuana which will cause you to become physically addicted. But it is possible to become psychologically addicted to anything.

A vaporizer is a viable alternative to smoking. It boils the active ingredients off without burning the herb. Smoking destroys a lot of THC just through the process of burning.

I totally agree with "this sucks".
I've smoked for years and have no negative side effects from it.
It's also ironic that the "machine" uses marijuana medicinally but tells everyone else it's bad for them.
I'm a nurse and give little marinol pills to my patients from time to time. It works for them, they seem to like it.
I've smoked for over 20 years and have no intention of anyone telling me I can't.

My psychiatrist and doctors keep telling me weed is bad and I've given it up. Personally, I've never had any bad effects. If anything, it's helped me. I've been bi polar for 23 years and weed is only drug that has kept me on straight and narrow throughout. Have given it up now though mainly because of probs getting it.

Laziness...lack of drive...memory loss...sore throat...coughing...changes in lip color...bad breathe...smelly clothes...lower lung capacity...labored breathing...loss of weight for "some"...addiction

...and lets not talk about what you're smoking if you roll blunts...that paper is not just paper...it has cancer causing agents

Been there...done that. I feel so much better after I quite and didn't realize what I was doing to my body until I actually stopped for a solid 1-1/2 month...which has been some time now. (I went to school for vocal music so I decided that was more important to me so I completely stop.) I felt SOO much better and I said...well damn...I can actually breathe...and hold my notes properly! I didn't realize that it had started to affect my breathing and lungs. Yes...it's relaxing but it is a psychoactive drug which means it also alters BRAIN function.

I hope that answers your question.

Well let's see...

You are sucking in a weed that has been sprayed with many chemicals, at a temperature hotter than a cigarette (no filter) and inhaling that into delicate bronchial tissues...then when it hits your blood stream it can increase your blood pressure...it also affects the family jewels too.

Have I said enough yet?
