Me: J, I went to the Metropolitan Museum a number of years ago. They had a replica of an Aztecan pyramid with a sacrificial font at the top of it. I climbed about 12 steps, imagining myself a chosen sacrifice to a Cat God : the Jaguar. As my head reached as far as view did: the very last step,I almost fell all the way
gained, in horror. For there was the font, a jaguar haunched ready to pounce. And on his face, a pair of dilating eyes, which showed no
gratitude for the poor, DUPED Sacrifice, For those eyes going round and round of pupils which the artisan had carved, did not show thankfulness for the Gift of a Life. Rather, those eyes SIMPLY, WHOLLY showed Eternal Insatiableness!. At that time I felt as if I would faint, had I been the sacrifice, but More did I feel the incredible sobering of that selected person's awareness to WHAT WAS REALLY HAPPENING. As for the artist who'd carved such a convincing creature, I thought upon recovering : The guy's got a great sense of humour! WOW!!!

And Trev, last night it was a dog you had eaten, then an Amazonian "Cotorra" and now is this tale, (may be true), for the exception of the laundering machine and the part where even the Army is involved??? Sooooooooo,
Your punishment shall be; go to the back of the class with this bar of LAVA soap to be held in your mouth for 15 minutes, or immediately after class, march your way to room 214, "Creative Writing." No ifs or buts about it. In this class (I) am the Absolute ruler!

Lady Spharoe, of the Egyptian name, I've liked your poem! Thank you!

And Trev, I am very sorry for the death of your very old cat! I have had cats all of my life. One particular one named Mr. Thomas Oilcan, contracted Leukemia. I had to have him put to death. I refuse to use the euphemism : "being put down"; call a spade a spade, for Mother of Pearl's sake!
Well he used to do a somersault when he saw me feeling sadly. Just before the needle came, he looked at me, as if saying, "greci, it is time to say good-bye, buddy . . . " and I could not not stop crying. So Mr. Tom, tried to do the old somersault for me, but he was so weak, he succeeded only half way, then collapsed from the exertion. Then came the lethal injection.
A German writer, last name Bolles, called the cat, God's perfect creation.
Another said that the saddest thing to go through was to love our animals so completely, than when they died, we became irrevocably Heartbroken, for THEN, we discovered, how much shorter their lives were than ours. And we suffered for that unfairness!
It's True!

I apologize for not having believed the father-through-Army affected child, dear Trev. And the ordeal for you and he, the cat, that he drowned. But death is for just a moment . . and we pass it, and perhaps there are somewhere wiser hands that will hold us forever in a state of peace.
So . . forget the punishment of LAVA soap held in your mouth, while you stand facing the wall at the back of the class . . . RATHER, go directly to room 214, Creative Writing awaits you, dear, Trev!
Please understand that after the dog which was eaten, and the Amazonian Cotorra I thought, oh well, here is another "cat-which claimed he swallowed the canary" tale.
Those were tales, correct???
Grecia.

As some of you who have been paying attention know,
I did not eat the cat.

I did kill it though.
Well, I put a contract out on him. A very expensive one too.

I employed a professional killer, trained by the best. He actually encouraged me to do it. I am sure he did not need the work either, so that leaves other reasons for his encouragement,

I wanted to be there when he did it. It was around 9.00 o'clock at night when the call came.
"The time has come, you'd better get here straight away."

When I got there, I was given the choice. Was I sure?
I asked my man what he thought. He was strongly in favor of death.

"I'll be one quick shot, that's all!"
So, I nodded my assent.

I picked up the cat to keep him still. And then quick as a flash it was over.
The cat, Trouble, went limp as a parrot that had flown into a window.

I cried.
I'd had him many years, he often slept in my arms.
But he was old, he was very sick. Money would not help him.

I left the surgery desolated.

That's what can happen when you leave Trouble behind. You can get so used to having it around, that you find it hard to live without it.

If I can find my answer where I describe what happened when my It-was-an-accident nephew put the cat in the washing machine, I will post a link to it.
You can probably guess how that turned out though.
(They threw him out of the army later for doing some VERY strange things indeed. Not really thrown out, more of a compassionate discharge. Either way, we had to deal with him.)

=============================================
Yeah, mine had growths too they told me afterwards. It was the saddest thing this year.
About my nephew, it's true. It was an accident. The cat curled up in the washing machine that they used as a laundry basket too.
Then my nephew wanted something washed quickly.
He started the machine and at the end when my sister opened it the cat was there drowned.
He was mortified, but it made me laugh when I heard it because it was so unlikely.

It was his father's aggression that made him odd.
Not the cat episode. The army experience made him worse.
That's life.

============
Some of my earlier works might well have been somewhat creative.
But as a child I was bitten twice in one week in the backside by different Alsation dogs.

So, quite apart from the excuse of being traumatized at an early age and this leading in itself to a dramatic mindset, I feel I could be forgiven for wishing that I had eaten a dog.

For desire to become a reality in one's mind is a fairly normal event for humans.

Many qualities:

For one, cats have dynamic and complex personalities. This may be off-putting for some, but for cat lovers, it means we are never bored.

Secondly, cats are, of course, inherently curious. Even though they are afraid of many things, they still stick around for at least a few moments to assess it find out what they can about a new stimulus before deciding how they feel about it. Cat owners have a habit of showing unique objects to their cats (mirrors, moving toys, objects that flash and beep, etc.) to observe their cats' responses.

Cats also are independent. This plays out in at least a couple of ways. First, they are relatively self-sustainable in that they groom themselves, poop in a designated spot (most of the time), and are quite content to be alone. Secondly, even the most personable cats will have a natural aloofness; so, when cats choose to spend time with their owners (grace us with their presence) it's more special to their owners.

And, quite simply, cats can be hilarious. This is what disarms most people who for whatever reason have an aversion to cats. To see an animal that's often characterized as being haughty leap into the air, arms waving, mouth agape, eyes ablaze, tail twitching, is what wins the affection of many cat-haters.

And they're soft and snuggly.

Couldn't agree more with the descriptions here. Cats are great animals and can be great pets. They have this mysterious aura that gives them charm. They can be like a person sometimes. Their faces when you talk at them and when you look at them... it's like they always understand everything.
Feeling the softness and purrs of a cat lying by your side is recomforting. When I am feeling down, this is one of the things that helps me cheer up. Cats are amazing creatures.

For sure it's their puring.
It's a beautiful humming noise that puts you to sleep even in broad daylight. The feel of their fur and their whiskers. They are just over the top filled with their own personality, and are smarter than the average animal. Not to mention how beautiful they are. They're just 100% perfect.

My cat's ability to tell when it's 7am ON THE DOT and wake us up with a delicate little touch of her paw to our lips.

And the way she looks at me as if she knows what I'm thinking. The fact that she looks like a perfect predator one minute and a big fluffy softie the next.

I love her xxxxx

I wrote this poem a long time ago about my cat, Milo. He is no longer with us. I think it captures their mystique pretty well. At least it captures Milo's ;0)

Orange and silent

My tabby reigns

Mind bearing voice

He seemingly has none

Hear him... feel him

With sleek manipulation

He loops and bends

Anticipating the sound

The sound... of salmon

My kitty wakes me up every morning by pawing my face 10 mins before my alarm goes off. Just like clockwork. I think it's the cutest damn thing ever. I mean cmon that's just freaking ridiculously cute.

They are cute, cuddly, acrobatic, floppy, sleek, intelligent, curious, inquiring, stand-offish, friendly, hide-y, affectionate, sleepy, playful, hyper, bouncy, fuzzy, ferocious, sweet, demanding, and million more things. Basically, they each have their own quirky attitude, and this is what makes them "bewitching" to so many people.
