I downloaded a bunch of 90's one hit wonders that made me think back on good times in my life. And I have gotten really depressed because I am now 24 years old and cant believe I been out of high school for almost 7 years now. I feel like my life has become a waste because I am still stuck on what will I do in life just like I was when I was 17. I feel like my life is passing me by on just plotting and thinking. Does anyone else feel this way??

What have you done in those 7 years; gone to school, worked, what? If you have, then it hasn't been a waste at all.

If you want to get some inspiration and ideas, take a class that lets you explore careers. I did and I found it just verified what I wanted, it was great. We took personality tests and did Meyers Briggs, very helpful. We also did a project to research an area of our interest.

There are also career centers in every city that have resources regarding jobs. Those are also excellent places to get some ideas and help.

You are only 24, that is not very old at all. Besides, it is a rare kid at 17 that really knows what he wants to do. And remember, it changes too, you may find you want somethng else when you are 40. It is not unusual to have several different careers in your lifetime. I have, keeps things interesting. Good luck!

I'm 63 years old. I've learned that asking someone "What do you want to be when you grow up" is useless. Most of us have several different careers or one career takes several different paths. Decide what you want to do FOR NOW not for the rest of your life.
It's helpful sometimes to just sit and dream. Write down what you dream life to be: life style, things you want to do, money, what you enjoy doing. Pick one of these and start one step at a time towards that goal. I've found that learning to work at something I truly enjoy is worth more to me than making more money. I don't want to hate every minute of work and wait for the day to end. Too much time is spent at work to hate my job. But you have to decide for yourself what is important to you. Then take one small step at a time toward that goal.
The last 7 years have not been wasted. It just seems that way to you now. In time, you will see that you have learned some useful things in that time that came in handy later.

Have a friend like that. There is a fine line between being somebody with a dream and somebody who dreams. Wake yourself up. If you need more education for your dream. Then take a step toward the dream. I suggest Military, college or trade schools. If education is not needed pursue an apprenticeship in the field that your attracted to. Life is ok in your 20's, better in your 30's and even better after that..go for it. you have time on your side.....

Sign up for college. Not community college. Go away to school. Not only will you have the time of your life but you may learn something and meet the love of your life.
