There is a definite connection.
Matthew 24 and 25 both refer to the rapture of the church.
In both half will go and half will not.
Chapter 25 clarifies the 'one will be taken and one will be left' by saying that the half who is prepared to go will be taken.
Only five virgins have oil (the Holy Spirit) in their lamps, therefore only those with the Holy Spirit will be taken. All others will be left.
Mat 25:2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
Mat 25:3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
Mat 25:4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

First of all, the passage about the two people in the field, the two people in bed, and the people grinding at the mill, is this, since we do not know the time or day that Jesus will return for his children, we who are his children, are to be about doing God's work here on this earth. We should not be sitting around doing nothing, watching the world go by on it's way to hell.
In regards to the parable about the ten virgins, it is about being prepared spiritually for Christ's return. Our spiritual preparation cannot be bought or borrowed at the last minute. Our relationship with God must be our own.
The passage states that the 10 virgins "began" to sleep, not that they were sleeping. Yes, they were tired, but at the cry announcing that the Bridegroom was approaching, it jarred them to their feet.

First of all, don't listen to Chris. The answer he's posted for you is the same old bogus, copy-and-paste he's put in every Catholic-related answer for months. None of us around here take it with any sort of seriousness anymore. Thumb it down and move on. Catholicism is the largest faith of Christianity. In fact, it is the original Christian Church, from which all other denominations stemmed. Only after Martin Luther led his band of rebels to break away from Christ's Church in the 1500s (the Protestant Rebellion) did more than one branch of Christianity exist. Since then, the Protestant denomination has split further into the 38,000+ (yes, 38 thousand) churches we see today; all of which claim to be the sole church that correctly interprets God's Word with the aid of the Holy Spirit. The biggest doctrinal difference between Catholic Christians and Protestant Christians is this: Catholics believe that the Church is a divinely guided authority, aided by the Holy Spirit (Mat. 16: 18-19). We believe that the OFFICIAL Church Catechisms are infallible truth. Catholics have two sources for theological information: Holy Tradition and Holy Scripture. This way, God can still work in our lives in ways that make sense to us. He can still reveal Himself to us by way of His Church. Protestants, on the other hand, rejected the authority of the Church during the Protestant Rebellion in the 1500s (before this, Catholicism was the only form of Christianity, besides the Orthodox Church). They believe that the ONLY source for theological information is Holy Scripture. Some even go as far as to say that the Bible not only teaches religious truth, but also scientific and historical fact (these are the fundamentalists), and they believe that this can and does override scientific and historical accomplishment of the rest of humanity. They also practice Sola Scriptura, the heretic belief that one can read and interpret the Bible for himself, without the aid of the Holy Spirit. This is why we've seen so many breaks and divisions in the Protestant sector of Christianity (over 38,000+ Protestant churches) over the 500 years since their man-made creation; while still maintaining ONE Catholic Church over 2000 years, since Jesus Himself established it in 33A.D. Catholicism is the ONLY faith that provides the fullness of God's Grace to a person. All sects of Christianity that aren't Catholic in fact do not contain the fullness of Christ. One can only attain what God wanted us to attain from His Son by joining the Catholic Church. For, the Catholic Church is Christ's universal gift to the world, to share, contemplate, and continue on His teachings under the aid of the Holy Spirit. No branch of Protestantism can provide this to you.

Dear Warrior, I see where you are coming from but:
This parable is about the time when Jesus returns at the end of the tribulation...the one taken is saved and goes in to the 1000 year millennium and the one left is not saved and dies
Please do not be conflicted with numbers, it is not from the lord. The purpose of study is to come to know the Lord God and to do what he tells us to do, to learn about prophecies that have come and gone and the ones to come so that we are prepared to do the work He set in front of us to do which is to spread the word so that as many as possible can be saved.
Robin is right. God Bless you!!

Sandy,
I really agree with Peapie, about getting carried away with numbers. It can lead you off the more important issues and you can't really prove the point.
Robin also answered as I would have, so I'm not going to just be repetitious. I usually answer and then read others' answers, but this time I looked ahead and now my answer would be mostly redundant.
I keep myself fully occupied by"the simplicity of devotion to Christ". I used to spend lots of time with some of the exciting issues of end times, prophecy, and spiritual gifts. Now I find myself more interested in just getting closer to Jesus. I don't mean this as any criticism of anyone; its about my own walk with Jesus. I am just more restful in my faith than I used to be. I trust Jesus to get me prepared and get me pointed the right direction on things. I used to be very complicated and it was so tiring, now I just know who has my answers and I go to Him more instead of buzzing around busily. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone but me......=)

5 Wise thier lamps(WORD)( thy Word is a lamp unto my feet )( it shows the way ) were burning
and they had OIL ( HOLY GHOST)
and they were trimmed and burning(on fire for Christ , even while resting)
waiting on JESUS ( the groom )
5 foolish thier lamps ( WORD)( lamp unto our feet) ( should be lead by it and not mans traditions ) were burning( but not TRIMMED)
but had NO OIL( lead by the HOLY GHOST) ( lamps were going out )
they were not trimmed fire going out , while resting
waiting on the JESUS( groom)
ALL believed God existed and JESUS was going to return
BUT only 5 KEEP OIL in thier lamps
and were wise( being lead by the HOLY GHOST and refilling thier vessels( themselves ) with the OIL ( SPIRIT ) (WORD)
the other was foolish with no oil
( they was caught up in thier denominations and what THEY wanted and did it thier way , not GODS which is the OIL or ( HOLY GHOST) and was not lead by HIM to REFILL thier vessels so thier lamps would stay full and burning .........
NO OIL
ALL working and being together
BUT NOT ALL
that say LORD LORD will enter in
GOD knows mans HEART and what it is FULL OF
thus two at the mill
ONE taken the other left
TWO in one bed
ONE TAKEN the other left
TWO in the field ONE taken the other left
ONE IS FULL of GOD and HIS SPIRIT and WORD
the OTHER tho knowing HIM
isnt FULL of HIM and HIS SPIRIT
but have allowed others things to be more important

This passage is a metaphor.
The two in the same bed are the flesh and the Spirit. At death the spirit returns to the Lord, and the flesh dies.
Jesus said, "A person cannot mount two horses or bend two bows.
A slave cannot serve two masters, otherwise that slave will honor the one and offend the other.
The soul must decide between which of these two masters to serve. A soul which is congruent with the Spirit is like a house that is built on firm foundations. Such as Soul will rise with the Spirit and take an eternal body. A soul which is congruent with the flesh is like a house built upon sand. Such a soul will crumble ''from great structure to rubble'' like the flesh that houses it. For such an unfortunate soul will have to rebuild their house from scratch and endure great suffering.
Be on the look out for situations in life presents you with a choice of whom to serve (the Spirit or the flesh). Watch out for the thief that is lust desire whom will come steal the soul for the flesh.
Jesus said, "The Father's kingdom is like a woman who was carrying a jar full of meal. While she was walking along [a] distant road, the handle of the jar broke and the meal spilled behind her [along] the road. She didn't know it; she hadn't noticed a problem. When she reached her house, she put the jar down and discovered that it was empty
=====================================================
There are other variations and related passages in scripture of this metaphor you've quoted from Mathew which are attributed to Jesus::
1) Jesus said, "Perhaps people think that I have come to cast peace upon the world. They do not know that I have come to cast conflicts upon the earth: fire, sword, war.
For there will be five in a house: there'll be three against two and two against three, father against son and son against father, and they will stand alone."
2) Mary said to Jesus, "What are your disciples like?"
He said, "They are like little children living in a field that is not theirs. When the owners of the field come, they will say, 'Give us back our field.' They take off their clothes in front of them in order to give it back to them, and they return their field to them.
For this reason I say, if the owners of a house know that a thief is coming, they will be on guard before the thief arrives and will not let the thief break into their house (their domain) and steal their possessions.
As for you, then, be on guard against the world. Prepare yourselves with great strength, so the robbers can't find a way to get to you, for the trouble you expect will come.
3) Jesus said, "One can't enter a strong person's house and take it by force without tying his hands. Then one can loot his house."
*This is how lust operates (by tying the soul to the flesh).
4) Jesus said, "When you strip without being ashamed, and you take your clothes and put them under your feet like little children and trample then, then [you] will see the son of the living one and you will not be afraid."
5) Jesus said, "A grapevine has been planted apart from the Father. Since it is not strong, it will be pulled up by its root and will perish."
Jesus said, "Whoever has something in hand will be given more, and whoever has nothing will be deprived of even the little they have."
6) Jesus said, "Grapes are not harvested from thorn trees, nor are figs gathered from thistles, for they yield no fruit. Good persons produce good from what they've stored up; bad persons produce evil from the wickedness they've stored up in their hearts, and say evil things. For from the overflow of the heart they produce evil."
**Soul attachment to dominion over the material world (such as coveting flesh desires) bind what is pure to what is impure.
7) Jesus said, "If two make peace (the Spirit and the Soul) with each other in a single house, they will say to the mountain, 'Move from here!' and it will move."
8) Jesus said, "The Father's kingdom is like a person who has [good] seed. His enemy came during the night and sowed weeds among the good seed. The person did not let the workers pull up the weeds, but said to them, 'No, otherwise you might go to pull up the weeds and pull up the wheat along with them.' For on the day of the harvest the weeds will be conspicuous, and will be pulled up and burned."
