1. Do you approve of the death penalty?
No. Although I think the rule "an eye for an eye" applies, we would be hypocritical to say killing is wrong then murder someone who has made a wrong choice. Life in jail is suitable.
2. What is your attitude towards death (in general)?
It's something we all have to deal with. And honestly, I'm not afraid. "Death is like getting out of a cab, and getting into another." There has to be life after death, or we wouldn't be living in the first place.
3. Who is the closest person to you who died?
My uncle. He died of cancer.
4. What do you think about abortion?
I am certainly against it. Just because someone made the wrong decision by getting pregnant, an innocent baby shouldn't suffer because of it. Life is precious, and we're lucky to be living it, so why take it away from someone who hasn't had a chance?
5. Do you think brain dead persons should remain on life support?
If they are truly brain dead - never to live again - then no. Although letting go is hard, it's not healthy to hold onto this person forever. You're letting them suffer.
6. Are your views about death spiritual in any sort of way?
Somewhat, but to a certain extent. I'm not sure how to explain it.
7. Do you think funerals are necessary?
For some people, because they allow them to say goodbye, and celebrate their life. For others, it's easy to just see them one more time and that's it. It's a matter of opinion, and the person itself. For me, I think they are necessary.
8. Have you ever had a near-death experience?
No. I almost got hit by a car once, but I'm not sure I would have died.
9. If you answered yes, can you tell me if you learned anything from it?
I learned to look both ways before crossing the street. (:
10. Is there anything that you were reluctant to ask/tell a dear one that you wish you had said?
No, and I'm not sure how to answer that.
Thanks a million!!!!!!!!!
No problem. I was bored. (:

1) Do you approve of the death penalty?
No. Once you become what you're trying to punish... where do you go from there? What values do you truly hold?
2) What is your attitude toward death?
It's a necessary part of life. It had a beginning; and in order for the next generation to flourish, it must have an ending as well.
3) Who is the closest person to you who died?
I've lost several in my life. Close friends and family members alike. I'm not saying that everyone I know is dropping like flies--but I am saying that it's tough playing favorites with the dead.
4) What do you think about abortion?
I think abortion is a subject that's become a playground for the self-righteous. Abortion happens quite regularly NATURALLY: not every fertilized egg makes it into pregnancy--and not every pregnancy makes it through full term. Funny how when a human being does it, it's suddenly against God. And--as answers above mine have indicated--most of the people who are against abortion are FOR capital punishment. Will you people make up your minds?
5) Do you think brain dead people should remain on life support?
With no hope for recovery? I wouldn't want to be.
6) Are your views about death spiritual in any sort of way?
No. Everyone dies. Bullshitting myself about soaring among the clouds or picking flowers in some version of an afterlife won't change that.
7) Do you think funerals are necessary?
I've never been to one that was. It really is only there so that survivors can lie to themselves about there being a reason for the death... that God is with them now... that the deceased is in Heaven now... that the deceased is still with us "in spirit"...
Not my cup of tea. I prefer to remember the one who died instead of attending a meeting where everyone clings to lies about death.
8) Have you ever had a near-death experience?
LIFE is a near-death experience.
9) If you answered "yes," can you tell me if you learned anything from it?
Life's the best teacher you could ever ask for. Of course I've learned something from it.
10) Is there anything that you were reluctant to ask or tell a dear one that you wish you had said?
I have an Aunt and Uncle who are JW. They wouldn't visit me--nor did they ever ask about me--while I recieved a bone marrow transplant for cancer treatment. Part of me wishes I'd have called them up and told them how pathetic it is to turn away real family for the sake of an imaginary friend.

1. Yes. Under certain circumstances, if someone makes the decision takes a life without justification, then that gives society the right to take theirs.
2. It's a part of life.
3. My Grandmother
4. I'm pro-choice. It's more upsetting to me to think of all the people out there who are irresponsible enough to not use birth control when it's readily available, and that there are people in this day and ago who are actually encouraging us to not educate our children on how to protect themselves from pregnancy and disease in ways other than as well as including abstinence.
5. No. They're dead. But the family needs to be given time to let go and say goodbye.
6. No.
7. Not for the dead. For the living, yes, it gives some sense of closure.
8. No
9. N/A
10. Nothing in particular. The only thing I wish I could do is talk to my grandmother about a series of photo albums of hers that came into my possession after her death. The photo albums were put together by *her* aunt, and some of the photos in it are so old they're tin-types. Her aunt was fanatical about putting them together. It was her hobby her whole life. She was born in the 1800's, and died in the 1940's. They're the most amazing photo albums I've ever seen. (Especially the earliest ones.) My grandmother knew a lot of the people whose photos are in the album, and I would love to learn more about them.
