In New York State, the 1st offense fine for not wearing a seatbelt is $90, (a $40 fine + a $50 surcharge). The only difference is if it's an adult or a child violation. Violations for children not wearing seatbelts carries with it the fine and 3 points. Also, if you are a persistent violator of seatbelt rules, the fine can go as high as $1000.

I am not sure but a seat belt violation is around $100. and since the law is in effect, it is tough to have it voided or fixed.. However, a cell phone violation( talking while driving with phone to ear) is equally as bad and a couple of judges have been letting first and second time offenders go with no penalty. I think we should be fining the judges whatever they dismissed in dollars.

Here in Amarillo Tx the city judge gets $500-2500.00 plus the DPS fines you $1000.00 per year for three years.
