yes, they are one of the breeds that are prone to skin problems. Call your vet and let them know things are getting worse. Did they do a skin scrapping to check for fungus or mites.

My 3 yr old chihuahua also had this. She was placed on prednozone for 2 weeks because she was extremely itchy, it cleared up, but it then returned. A second opinion revealed it may be a parasite bites. I placed my dog on monthly doses of revolution which kills fleas and parasites and she has been fine since. My vet also recommended to stay away from chicken based food since chicken allergies will occur over time.

Well i have been a chi. owner for about a year now. If you already visited your vet and they gave you medicine then your good .The scabs and worse apperence is normal..sometimes skin rashes/allergies get alittle worse the first couple of days the dog gets medicine and after that the rash/alergie should begin to get better and eventually go away. If i was you waite another day or so and then if it isnt any better call your vet back...the medicine could possibley not be strong enough.

dogs as well as people can develop allergies to things they weren't allergic to before. First try to think if youv'e changed anything. If not then your chi may be allergic to what your feeding her. Have your vet do a test on some of the skin to see if it's a fungus or something. If not then you may need to put her on a different food.

Yes. Wiemeranner is allergic to the grass in the summer and gets a scabby rash. Ointment creme will help loads. If you find out what she is allergic to you might be able to prevent that. But if you can't get rid of the problem you can always keep her in plastic bubble.LOL. Good luck.

The circular scabby areas are a staph infection. They should not be getting worse on the antibiotics--call your vet. He may have to change the medication. A medicated shampoo can be very beneficial as well.

well medication is not going to work overnight. If after a day or 2 things are not better , either go back to your vet or get a second opinion.
