1976 I was driving a 76 comet, gas was around 38 cents a gallon, but near the end of the year, it was around 48 cents. I remember because in August of 77 it was 50 cents a gallon

I know that in the winter of 71, I spent 15.9 cents a gallon at an Amoco station self serve. Miss that time!

Yeah it does have some positives though. I see people walking around, riding bikes and the bus a lot more now. In my town the bus is now used 75% more than last year at this time.

it cost me 33.9 cents to put a gallon of gas in my brand new 76 dodge van where i lived in so. cal. by 1979, it cost a buck.

around 78 cents a gal is in my mind that was in NJ which used to be cheaper state to buy fuel.....not anymore
